Thoughts on the Lexicon MXP500

Does anyone here use the MXP500? Is it GOOD/BAD?? I have heard people say that the MXP100 isn't any good, but is the MXP500 better or does it does it rate down there with the 100, just more expensive?

I've had the mpx500 for a week or so now, haven't had the time to do any tweaking, but some of the preset's I've come across really sound great. I couldn't tell you how the mpx100 series sound but, compared to the alesis verbs I've been using for the past "forever" this unit kills them. The most important thing for me was...I can now add a touch of verb on say vox, guitar and maybe drums and the whole mix doesn't sound all washed out "muddy" if that makes any sense. it's a lot more natural sounding verb than I was used to and that's what I was after. I got mine off of ebay so there was no turning back, so if it's at all possible I would suggest trying out as many reverbs as you can before making your mind up. For what I paid for mine I'm happy...for now.

I've owned a 500 for a number of months and have really been impressed by what I perceive [I'm not a pro] to be the quality of the verbs.

That said, my perspective is limited in that I've only compared it to Alesis units and the comparable TC Electronics unit. The TC unit was also pretty sweet, but I liked the verbs a bit better out of the Lex.

Just finished A/B'ing the Lexicon MPX500 and the TC Electronics M*One...

The Lex wins hands-downs.... the 'verbs on the M*One aren't bad exactly, but they don't grab you (well, me anyways), and there's a "sameness" to all of them, regardless of the type (room, hall, ambient, etc...) With the Lex, there's a real sense of space around the sound, not so with the M*One...

The same holds true for the delays - all have the same tone... it's a bit hard to describe... (and yes, I was actually switching presets!) The phasar could have been cool, but I couldn't get it to sound clean - there was always significant distortion on the phase effect - mind you, I didn't try too hard to tweak it.... No... the MPX500 takes it in this one...

I get no sound back whatsoever..

I have a digitech quad and a TC electronic M one.. Those I just plugged in and they worked. So this thing is either darn complicated or Ive got a dud.

That's got to be a defect then... if it's out of warranty, open it up and check the jacks - could be as simple as a broken connection... in warranty - send it in!!!

Has anyone here compared the effects on the lexicon mpx-500 with the effects on the roland srv-3030?
