thoughts on Carvin monitors?

Does anyone own the Carvin SRS65-2 monitors? I fully understand that these things are a far cry from professional grade but would like to hear from anyone who has heard them. Given that they are less than $300 for the pair, how do the fare against comparable monitors? Is that "contour" switch really functional/worthwhile or just a gimmick? My monitors will do double duty: tracking, mixing and monitoring my keyboard while scratching.

I asked this question a long time ago, and no one answered mine either. They have boycotted posting on threads to do with these monitors!

Since these things are seemingly affordable, which happens to be the word describing my very own budget, I would hope to hear someone say at least "their o.k., but....." or maybe even a "don't do it....you'll regret it.."
