Ok so I got my mixer. I got a mackie 1402. I need to hear what is coming out of the mixer. However I want to know if you can do this with COMPUTER SPEAKERS???? i'm trying to find a way to hook them to monitor. Obviously I need a 1/8 female into 2 1/4 inches. Radio shack doesnt have them. No really make that weird combo.

So my question is has anyone done this hoook up?
or should i Just use my headphones for now and buy some decent monitors??

What kind of cheap monitors should I buy i'm looking for like 200 range.

THANKS!

Wal-mart sells some really awkward combos of connectors sometimes. Are there any tape outs with RCA connectors on your mixer? If you really have to go this way then do it. Otherwise, get some of the cheaper M-Audio monitors and do it that way.

You can go two ways cable-wise that can bot use Radidlio Shack parts. The first is to get a couple of 1/4" male -> RCA female adapters to plug into the CR outs of the Mackie. Then run a stereo RCA cable from those with a dual RCA female to mini-stereo adapter on the other end.

Alternately you could do the same thing, but avoid the first set of adapters by pluging the mixer end of the RCAs directly into the tape outs of the Mackie, using the Tape out instead of the CR for monitoring.

But you'd be better off avoiding the computer speakers and the headphones altogether. If your $200 price is for the pair, you might be best off checking out eBay for some deals on som used monitors.
