What is up? I don’t get it!

The Homerecording.Comp CD has been available for over a month now, and I have received word that only about 15 copies have been sold to people outside of the artists/members that contributed songs to this CD. I can recall seeing at least 40 or 50 people in the past say that they wanted to buy a copy of this when it was released. There seems to be a disparity here eh? This BBS has over 10,000 "members", and there is at least 1000 that post at least once a month, and probably another 4000 or 5000 that "check in" to read or "lurk". This is dismal to think that out of at least 5000 people, only 15 of these CD's have been sold!!!

The idea behind the CD was to allow members to submit their work and let others hear it in a CD format as opposed to mp3. Slackmaster2k went farther and provided all the coding for a more “interactive” CD deal by providing info about the contributing members (info THEY supplied), and a copy of the very first thread each contributing member posted on the BBS. In addition, he provided copies of some of the most infamous threads this BBS has had. Some are funny, some are tragic, some are just plain weird! But in the end, it is a fascinating collection and insight into some of the minds of the earliest members on this BBS and makes for some good reading. Some of you newer guys might actually get some of the inside jokes!

Proceeds from the sales were to 1- offset production costs (that is already covered), 2 - to be donated to the website. David Fiedler (the owner of homerecording.com) had NOTHING to do with the decision of where the proceeds from this CD were to go! The contributing members made ALL decisions about what to do with the proceeds, and it was unanimous that they go to David to help offset the costs associated with running homerecording.com. This was openly discussed on the BBS. There is NO hidden agenda or back room thing going on here. All the contributing members to this compilation CD just wanted to help offset the cost's of running this site because they all felt that they gained so much from being a member of this site.

Did I mention that ALL initial productions costs of this compilation CD were covered by the contributing members? Can you believe that? That was all of these members gift to this website. They submit THEIR music and PAY to have CD’s produced for this website! That’s right, each contributing member had to commit to BUYING a CD with THEIR music on it!

What is your excuse for not buying one?

Now, I read about how all of you seem to think this BBS is “all da bomb”, so now is the time to put up or shutup! There are still a LOT of CD’s from the first printing for sale. You can get ordering information at this link: https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?threadid=53733

Again, the proceeds from the sale of this compilation CD DIRECTLY BENEFIT THIS BBS, and thus YOU! Many of you log on here to get your questions answered about home recording. This site doesn’t run on a free server! It costs REAL MONEY to operate it, and the owner of this website has always shouldered the cost above what little he brings in from the banner ad’s to keep this site up and running for YOU! I know that the owner of the site had a fairly long period of unemployment that he just recently got out of, yet, he managed to find a way to keep this site up for YOU during a time when he was trying to figure out how to feed his family and all that! (yes, David has a couple of growing young men in his household)

BUY A FREAKIN’ COMP CD!!! It is the least many of you can do to “help out”!

Again, go to this link: https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?threadid=53733
to order you copy RIGHT NOW. It is your way to hear some pretty decent examples of members work, as well as help support this BBS.

Ed

P.S. Yes, I know that I am spamming this, and spamming is a no-no here. But this is at least a spam for this BBS. I gain NOTHING from spending the time to compose this thread and post it in every forum.

what does this have to do with analog?

Without your support, there may not be an analog forum..

just ordered mine..

Ed, leave the info here to send money for the CD collection so
I can help support the site too! (didn't see address, etc. on
referenced thread to make it EASY to purchase)

Thanks
Chris

chess, see the HRcom Comp CD forum for more details.

It's all there, but I'd recommend touching base with Slackmaster2k, to see if there are any more available at this time. The latest talk around the HRcom Comp CD forum are discussing a possible second run.;)

Thanks Reel, I'll review that tread again to start off...

Wanna help Analog survive, then do this....

E-Mail company's like Maxell and TDK and express your discust in them for discontinuing there Blank cassette's like the Maxell XLII-S and the Maxell MX-S metal tape and TDK'S SA-X and MA-X metal tape, and both companys Open Reel tape lines. There is too much of a push towards digital these days that companys like these are forcing us to go digital.Don't get me wrong digital is ok for some things,i have a yamaha MDX-793 home deck but i still like the sound of Analog tape better, consumers should have the choice not have one shoved down our necks.Just my .02 cents..PEACE.........
