This is expected, right?

I was trying to convert my tape to digital. I was kind of cheating though, my recorder has a headphones out, and I used that to run directly into the 1/8" stereo on my CPU. This is a cheap, unprofessional way to do it, right?

listen to the "."

It has a bunch of buzz and crackle to it. This is just because I need to convert it by better means, right?

I didn't even bother to listen. I'll take your word for it. You can't do it that way. :)

Actually, that's really not that bad. Is that remake on the Otari or is the same version as the other one? It's a good sound. I like it. What do you have on your vox?

Hey, thanks for the complement. No, the only one on the Otari is the "."

I'm not messing with that right now though. Right now I'm in the middle of completely organizing and connecting my studio ei bulding snakes w/ nice stuff like switchcracf jacks and horizon calble. Maybe then I can actaully mix my stuff!

I listened closely to it and it sounds almost exactly as the time when I tried to do the same. :o You definitely don't want to do it that way, as Tim mentioned. ;)

The good news is that the short sample is sounding very nice indeed. Post a clean version soon! :)

I wouldn't do it that way either but I'm used to things sounding like that on the internet. I've heard alot worse.

I'm just curious, on that song did you use a slight reverb on the vocals. What kind was it? It reminds me of Elliot Smith.

What page am I looking at? Theres no "." there.

OK, nevermind. I found it. I was just listening to that last song.

The impedance mismatch was possibly causing the distortion for the first song made on the Otari. That's what it sounded like.

hey thanks guys

yeah, I'll post some more soon

and for the reverb question, no, no reverb was used! I just recorded it in a VERY weird sounding room. At first I hated it, but have grown attached to it. :D

That's what I was wondering. That room sounds great. I would record in there if I were you.

I know! At first I hated it, but now I am in love with it! Too bad the room is 4 hours away from my house......

All it was was a small guestbedroom with a closet, a bed and a computer....It was kind of boxy. I basically recorded against a wall. Weird how good it turned out. And I was only using an at3035.

4 hrs away! That might be a little inconveniant. Too bad it's so far away. Was it at Elliot Smiths house? :D
