This Good Studio Equipment?

Hello, I want to go to a studio, but my state has VERY few (maybe 2?). How good is this equipment that they use if I want to make professional songs that you hear with today's music?

An in Studio 5 piece “Maryland Drum” drum kit with assorted Zildjian and Istanbul cymbals
An in Studio Pleyel 7 foot grand piano

That list doesnt jump off of the page as awesome to me. I would think that a number of the studios guys around here run at home have similar if not better stats.

Just my 2 cents.
 
I think that the best way to judge their capabilities is to seek out songs/albums that they have produced and see if you like the results. Surely they have a website with some samples, or they might have a portfolio that they could show you upon request.

It's less about the gear and more about what they can do with what they have. But the gear helps :)
 
What are you trying to record? What's your budget and experience level?

I find it unusual they are only using Sound Forge.
