I will just be getting one to track my instrumentals, and track a little vocals.

Anyways most of my keyboards ETC have analog outs...most of my instrumentals use atleast 12-18 trakcs 4-6 of them are usually mono. What im wondering about these digi 002 is which inputs are stereo and mono

Since I use 12-18 tracks I was wondering if I could get all of it done in 1 tracking. The Digi 002 nonly has 8 analog ins, but 4 XLR inputs (my drum machine has 2 XLR outs), a S/PDIF input(my keyboards all atleast have one out), and 2 RCA inputs(my drum machien has a RCA out) could I record using all of those at the same time?

Second what are the midi syncing options on this, I dont see anything on the picture???

Also what are ADAT optical(the digi rack has 8 ins and outs)?I've never heard of it before, I think one of my keyboards has it

none of the analog inputs on the 002 are stereo. they are all mono.
the 002 has 8 analog inputs (either 8 1/4" or 4 XLR and 4 1/4") and 10 digital inputs.
The ADAT optical on the unit is for a device that supports ADAT optical connection on it (such as some preamps or mixers) and can give you 8 more tracks. the S/PDIF is only 2 tracks. As far as the RCA inputs, if you choose to use them, you can't use 7-8 1/4" at the same time.

by MIDI sync, what do you mean? right next to the optical in are 2 MIDI outs and 1 MIDI in for anything that requires MIDI (either MMC or synths).

i would get the m-audio fw1814 and buy protools m powerd. its basicly the same thing for cheaper.

Hmmm so I guess the digi 002 was made more in mind for vocals? (since the analog inputs are mono)

No, just that if you want stereo, you use two inputs. (Stereo = 2 x mono :)
I believe it's like that with most recorders (at least in my experience).
When you track keyboards, should you want it in stereo, then use two inputs.

exactly

there is hardly any semi-pro or pro gear that uses a stereo TRS input. One reason is because that makes your signal unbalanced. also because you don't record a microphone into a stereo input (let alone a TRS input)
