Does anyone have any experience with krk rokit 5's? I am thinking about buying some studio monitors to get better recordings, I am using headphones right now, and I know that my mixes won't be anything compared to when I get some good monitors. Any suggestions on monitors?

Whether this will prove useful or not is not for me to say, but this thread was, in my opinion, a classic of the genre. It gives you two sides of the KRK 5 debate and hopefully will assist you in reaching a decision. And provide some half decent bedtime reading and in flight entertainment.

I love my KRK's - started with 5's but wanted more bass so I got the KRK Rokit 6's G2 - a lot of people use them here and like the Rokit line

I have a buddy that has rokit 8's and loves them, and I really need monitors, but am really limited for space. I figured they would be perfect for me. I thought about m-audio, krk, fostex, yamaha, and adam a3x's. I think that the krk rokit 5 g2 are the best bang for my buck.

I use the G2 5's. I have good results with them. I do have a fairly large room with rock wool bass traps, absorbers, and a sub added. I think they are a great start and perfect to be used for small nearfields when you get some big ones later. Which I am about to do soon. :D

I just bought the 6's yesterday and I can't explain how awesome the feeling was when I first heard my mixes through them.

I think for your first monitors you'll be very happy with Rokits. If you don't have a treated room, the 5's will be great as there'll be less low-end to diffract everywhere and muddy the sound (I don't have a treated room, and there is a lot of bass from the 6's, so I'm going to have to watch that I don't put the level down too low for bassy tracks because I hear so much of it).

The sound is so clear though! I can hear everything that's wrong with my mixes now. You are right in saying your mixes will be way better once you get monitors. And to me the Rokits seemed to give the best quality for the price, which is what I wanted for my first pair. Anyway, that's my opinion :)

I have the RP 5's (first gen) and I think they are a great start! No, they don't compare to a pair of Adam's or Genelec's, but hell, they cost a fraction of the price. For sure the best bang for your buck. Although I must add that they might not sound "fantastic" if your room is untreated, so treat your room as well :D

they came way down in price i think since i bought them - I got them used but I think the 5's are what $150 each? and the 6's are $199 each? maybe they were always that price idk - seemed to me they were more expensive last year... I like the 5's and the 6's - but i like the 6's a lot better.

The RP10's look cool with the mid range speakers in them - but 10" monitors with 140 watt amps in them... thats a freaking PA speaker! $1000 for a pair of monitors is a little out of my price range anyway - but I bet the bass can dislocate your spine

i need to treat my room too
