I am a firm PC user of Logic Audio Platinum. I bought the software even though I knew a ton of people that knew how and where to get a cracked version. I was one of the recently made IDIOTS that updated to Version 5, 2 weeks before emagic stuck the e-dick in my ass!

Not because I love Windows, or Bill gates or because I am a computer genius that loves to poke and prod into my system and customize this and that. I am a PC user because GOD DAMN IT these are some bad fucking times, and if I can get my stuff up and running for $1,500 (with monitor and softare and sound card) as opposed to $3,000 without a monitor and no sound card... you would have to be one petty ass "Kepping Up with the Jones' " twirp to buy a Mac. Maybe 10... hell maybe even 5 years ago, Mac was a more stable "better" platform. But with new developments and new companies that have the expertise to build a "Made for Audio PC"... the Mac is not any more stable and is simply an over priced status symbol. It isn't a SINGLE FUCKING BIT surprising to me that the German Cunts sold out to the American cash machine.

Hell, if you want to get all sociological about it... Germans in general have always had to have a centeral Father (be it government, social system, medical system whatever) to round up half of their pay checks every month (socialism) and redistribute it equally to everyone that is in need. Father government will look after us kids and make sure that we don't have to take too much responsibility for our own actions and GOD FORBID... have to think and plan for ourselves.

Now you may be wondering how I am comparing a software buyout to a country's economic policies. Well Apple bosts the tired statement of having "everything built by one manufacturer." making everything "easier to trouble shoot" blah blah blah. Totally leaving out small little things that are woven firmly into most American's hearts like.... individuality, ability to decide for one's self what goes into what and where, how do I want go about doing this to make my whatever work how I MYSELF want it to work, and just basically who can offer me the best deal for my hard fucking earned US DOLLAR!!!!

So if you read all of the Sound on Sound, Future Music, Home Recording Magazine, Pro Audio Magazine, blah blah blah and see all those shinny slick dick rocket Mac's and get just can't stand it unless you yourself are "industry standard"... then Go Ahead and put aside that family vacation 8 more months so you can have one. Just don't be surprised when in 2 years (or 10 days, in computer years) your cock box is a laughable memory; bulldosed over by God given capitolism.

GOD I feel better now!!!

you are dead on about one thing: Those Germans do have some fine cunts.

I would really be surprized if Apple offered a discount on hardware. I have a feeling that an upgrade will be cheap or free from the Windows platform.

That being said I'm sure an eMac ($999) would run Logic OSX respectibly well. No PCI, but thats what Firewire/USB is for. Also, OSX is a fucking rock stabilty wise.

Sure you don't have the 'individuality,' but you have the advantage of an OS make that can optimise the software for a limited number of possible hardware configurations. Plus Logic OSX will be designed to intergrate with and fully exploit the tech in OSX w/out the hassle of coding with cross platform compatibility in mind.

If what Apple has done with Final Cut Pro is any indication, Logic OSX will be the best audio app short of Pro Tools. Instead of causally dismissing the Mac as a 'cockbox,' you should actually check out a machine running OSX. You might like it.

That's great for Apple and its users, and that's historically been an advantage for Apple. Though I believe this acquisition and the acquisition of FCP from Macromedia will help attract users to the platform, it may alienate developers who've long been Apple supporters. Take Adobe for instance. They took forever to get Photoshop OSX ready. Could it be they are feeling that their turf is being encroached upon by FCP. Seems logical to assume that sales of Premiere and After Effects have been affected by FCP. How is Digidesign and BIAS gonna feel when they have to compete with the manufacturer of the computer/OS they're developing for?

I think many Pro-Tools set ups use Logic as a front end. In this way I don't think the competition b/w those two products is that clear cut.

Also, if Logic OSX is compelling enough to draw interest in the Platform from new users, then that just equals a larger user base to sell products. No matter how good Logic OSX is, it won't be the best solution for everybody. Also many existing users won't switch because their too tied to their existing software.

Logic OSX will probably also light a fire under developers asses to get OSX versions of their software. Apple is never going to increase market share in this area if developers favor OS9.

That may happen - it's really a toss up. Take Microsoft for instance; you don't see people everywhere trying to whip up an Office competitor, and the competitors it did have have been completely marginalized. Of course Microsoft used many methods to help ensure the success of Office, but some of these same avenues will also be open to Apple as they will surely at some point be pushing some complete DAW.

Everybody just needs to come to Cakewalk...Sonar is prolly the only program that isn't MAC based and is EXCLUSIVELY for PC....well that and Sonic Foundry Products
