a working demo, i'm going to re-do this one from scratch...
new drum track, new guitar approach.

any comments on arrangements or drum suggestions would be cool

i want to keep it short...
but i might could lengthen the breakdown at 1:40, for example...

Short and frenetic - I like it like that.
Reminded me, a little, of some Porno for Pyros or Jane's Addiction.
Guitar tone is pretty good though could use a little meat.

rayc-
porno, i liked that band...
if there wasn't a janes addiction, i'd say perry had found his calling.

as i said, this is a demo, it's an older one, and i wanted to vett it here to see if it was worthy of a re-do.

the guitars, were done with a POD XT, all direct, and the drums were done with an old-school drum machine, a ZOOM 123.
i was curious to see how people would respond to the 'fake' guitars.

this was always just a demo, so i can re-arrange or do whatever i want with it, but i like the arrangement as it is...
so i may simply keep it the same, but with new modern drums (Superior, unless i find a willing victim to submit to real drum recording..) and updated guitar sounds.

Great song! The guitars are ok for a demo, but you're right, redo would probably be best. I liked the solo tone, though. Very cutting and almost familiar. Pretty good drum sound as well, considering where you got the tones from. I'm looking at getting Superior as well (or possibly Steven Slate) if Reason Drums doesn't do what I'm hoping (I honestly think it will be spectacular).

Anyway, I think the demo is definitely worthy of some pick up and haul. Well written, nice theme. Can't wait to see the final product :D

Nice production. I could only provide one comment. Some of the backing vocals could probably use a bit of separation to help them stand out. I thought they added a good addition and they seemed a tad crowded (you will pay). I don't think it hurts the song if it isn't changed, but I think they are cool enough to give them a bit more room and their own space.

Just a thought. Good recording, I did not hear anything sounding out of place.

thanks for checking it out....
i'll be using a real amp and miced cab for the final version,
the pod was really just a big experiment for me,
that ended up not holding water.

you know, those vox were heavily compressed going in,
a result of knowing it was a demo and just hitting the record button and running with whatever...

i think the proper gain structure, and much less compression, will allow the same amount of vox to stand out clearly....
the 'you will pay' lines, have a screaming guitar part mixed in behind and below it,
it gives the impression that the vox are more angry....
maybe that's the 'crowded' part?

i may more aggressively mix the vox centered, with the 'screaming' parts hard left and right...

Always glad to see a song by you when I come here! As usual the sound is excellent and the playing is tight. The open is excellent with the clean guitar-it sounds pretty compressed when it kicks in-I would have gone for a more ambient sounding mix overall, though in parts it is very ambient....maybe its the guitars being so up front with the verby drums-I don't know but there's something that disturbs my ear about the space the mix is in...Really cool tune, interesting and different, good job!

thanks for the kind words....
it will sound completely different with the new version....

i don't think the guitars will be as 'in your face' in the new version..
i'm starting the drum arrangements now....
and once i get that worked out, the tracking will go pretty quickly....
