every thing sounds good..but for example when hearing bass it sounds thin in the mix as in an album its allittle thicker can this be becuase i don't have a preamp or better mics..i have regualar recording mics going into my behringer mixer with a stereo cable into my pc set on mono..i just need to hear the intruments allittle thicker in presence not having to make it louder and sounding like a tooth pic...

Do you use a compressor? If not, do it. Recording the bass directly into the mixing desk sometimes gives a fatter sound.
Hope this helps.

Hey JoeJoe:

When I do a bass line from my DX 7 for a cut, I'm not done with it.

When I mix down or listen to a possible mix on the monitors before putting it on tape, I tweak the base line by increasing the low end and lowering the high end. This results in the nice gutsy phatt sound. This procedure works for most eletronic standard bass lines. I have other bass patches where I do not do any tweaking. You might try this and see what happens.

For the bass, you probably need to boost the low-end quite a bit (try around 300Hz) and then compress the hell out of it.

I also thicken instruments up in the mix by copying them to another track, and then panning the original and copy slightly (or not so slightly) left and right. Gives a fuller sound, especially if you have a lot of other instruments sitting in the middle of the mix.

Oh, and the Behringer mixers actually have really good preamps, so that's definitely not your problem.
