Don't know anything about this seller/company. Here's my take.

1) Because they also sell straight 703, it seems like they may have some clue as to what they are doing.... MAYBE

2) They list their sound absorbtion ratings.... Assuming they are correct, (AND WE CAN ONLY ASSUME), there really isn't going to be much help as far as low end absorbtion, only mids and highs. If you need to work the bass out, this won't do much by itself. Another thing here... call them and ask where/how they tested their stuff to get these numbers... If they don't know, refuse to explain, or especially if they don't know what you're talking about when you say "Absorbtion Coefficient".... don't buy from them. Period.

OK. Thanks for that info!! I would make them myself but i'm not much of a carpenter and i have little time. I also thought about doing like Harvey and seeing if i could find some office partitions laying in some offices trash! That would be great! Free!! I don't think i'll find any in my neck of the woods tho. I ruled out the foam. Was gonna get auaralex.

i have panels from ATS, two custom sized 2" thick panels, and some 4" thick bass traps for the corners. their stuff is decent, and did help the sound of my room quite noticeably. that small of a panel is not going to make a huge difference, and probably won't help you much as far as bass absorption. their 2" panels all have a plywood backing on them, which probably isn't the ideal way to do it. i ordered the open-backed 4" panels, and thats what i'd probably recommend for you. for the price, it's way better than using foam.

how big is your space?

bpape will probably come in and recommend you buy from GIK instead though, hehe. ;)

The stuff in the link is two inch thick, so it will be good for placing on walls to stop slap echoes and cut the highs and mids. To tame the bass frequrncies you will need something thicker and placed nearer the corners of the room.

I haven't measured it yet. I don't own the house so that's another reason i figured these hangable panels would be the way to go. Thanks for the info everyone!! I will start saving so i can improve the sonics of my room. I'd rather do that than shell out more money on equipment. I also like the idea that when i decide to move, the panels can be reused, as opposed to the foam which would tear up when taking off walls(i've done this before with foambymail foam:eek:). I know better now!

those panels are really small though, 24x24x2". you might be better off getting the 24x48x2" panels for more coverage + less actual panels to move around. or even better, i'd say go for the 24x48x4" panels. at $47, its a pretty good deal. you're getting basically 4 times the amount of material compared to the $20 panels.

Can you get the big panels off ebay or do you go to their website? Just wondering because i prefer to use paypal rather than give my info. Also is the shipping really expensive? Thanks for the info! I want those $47 ones.
I'd like to get more bang for my buck since i don't have many bucks right now!

i paid for mine on the website thru paypal. just email and talk to em, they will work with you, the service i got was great. you can get a shipping quote on the website too. it's kind of expensive to ship, depending on where you live.

looking at the website right now, a pair of the 24x48x4" panels with the open-back modification + shipping to California would be $128 and change. that's $23.65 for shipping.

Thanks for helping me out man!!! I will definetely get those panels so i can start hearing my mixes better. The room doesn't have a ton of reflections, but the bass is out of control. I'll probably also change the location of the speakers and purchase some speaker stands soon(using stools:D).

If your primary issues are with the bass, you should look at something at least 4" thick with no back and corner mount them. 2" isn't going to do much in the bass.

for speaker stands, i was looking around for alternatives since ones at Banjo Mart were like $100 a pair, so i went to Lowe's and they had these shelves that were only like $12 and they are just the right size to hold a pair of monitors. plus you get extra storage space out of it. only problem is they were a little short, so you might want to find something else to put on the shelf to stack your speakers on if they are too low (i just used an old pair of useless monitors on their sides haha, + MoPads).

and yeah like bpape says, get the 4" open-backed panels for sure. they help pretty much across the whole range, absorbing bass and doing a good job on the mids and highs too. not the BEST bass traps out there, but for the price it will help you out quite a bit.

Yea, the 4 inch ones are what i'm planning on getting since you said they were the best Price:material ratio.
