get over it! i think we're all just jealous becuase we don't own macs. i have a pentium 4 2.26 ghz and it's plenty fast. my friend just bought a new mac (i don't know which one, it looks like the one in the add posted here), but it does seem to be faster than my computer for recording. so MY study shows mac is faster.
LOL...
no really... be serious.
your "study" means nothing... faster how? Did you run any benchmarks? Did you clock any operations and do comparisons?
yeah... I didn't think so.
Actually... you couldn't be more wrong in your assessment of our collective "jealousy". My brother has a dual G4 in his studio, I have
an Athlon XP 2800+ in mine (which cost more than his G4, btw, so it's not like cost was an issue), and I like working on mine much better. (of course, he's got better recording gear,.. but that's beside the point.

)
The only people who run to Macs as if they're the Holy Grail are people who don't know any better. Just like those who run to Dell and Gateway. (which is another reason why I don't put the slightest weight in those benchmarks). Any informed computer user would build his own PC (or have it custom built) using the best components available. Everything from the mobo, to the HDD, to the chipset would be hand picked for it's proven performance/stability. That's how I build my systems, and because I like to know that every component in my system is top-notch, you couldn't
give me a Mac
or a Dell. (well... you could.. but I'd just turn around and sell it on eBay and use the money to build a real comptuer.

)
Now... I will admit that AMD is slipping... Dang those Canterwoods look inviting... (not to mention the new 800MHz FSB P4's)

I may just snag me a P4 3.2GHz w/800Mhz FSB and one of them Canterwood chipsets and turn my back on ol' faithful AMD.

(of course... I'll still keep em around for when I need to build those fast budget systems for friends.

)
