You've got a great authentic voice. Not really much to say about the mix as it's only a guitar and vocals.

Also love the Townes-cover "Colorado Girl". That guy was the reason I started fingerpicking.

True about the mix...I'm just trying to get honest feedback on any singing ability...thx

You've got a good voice for this kind of thing. You have a tendency drop the level of your singing at odd and random spots in the middle of a line. Don't know if that's intentional or not, but it contributed to a general feeling that I got, of a lack of energy or engagement with the song. The guitar playing seemed capable though not especially exciting. I sampled a few other songs on your soundcloud site and would make similar comments about those. Your recording technique has gotten better--I'm hearing less unwanted room noise in this song that some of the others, and the ambiance around the vocal is much better. You have a soulful voice. If you could inject a little more energy into it, it would make a big difference.

You might get more comments on your songs if you would offer comments on songs others have posted.

Thank you Robus...agreed on commenting on other stuff. thx for your time.

It's not an unpleasant version. But nor is it particularly exciting.

The playing is fine, and the voice is suited to the genre. But both are lacking expression. I can imagine this song with the guitar doing its relentless thing, but with a vocal that works the lyrics a bit harder.

The overall sound was a bit boxy, which is most likely a function of the room you are recording in, and you would benefit from editing the track a bit, i.e. getting rid of the noises at start and finish.

Edit: you might like to do a youtube search for acoustic versions of The Weight and note how others create interest in their performances.
