Fantastic. The kick and snare could use some something, but it's minor compared to the strength of the tune and the vocals, especially.

I dig.

I like the bass sound (the low end "bong" to be pronounced and the harmonics are crisp) you got and the mix is real nice...vocals are real good...and the Flash Gordon buildup into the solo around the 2:10 mark I really liked.

I love the slam in after the quiet intro.
Excellent use of space & dynamics.
UberGurubassman workout too!
The b/vox around 4min work a treat.
G R E A T stuff fellows.
Certainly worth the wait.
I downloaded the track straight off - It's heading for my MP3 player as I type.
I look forward to zoning in on the lyrics.

Hey super, typing as listening... intro is bouncy and catchy. Love the vocal interaction with the guitar part in the verse... the jangly guitars build and drop in intensity in cool ways. Bass sounds wild too. Chorus is dramatic and fits great. The breaks in the second verse are just great. Then the long break is in no way too long IMO, it builds the drama for the next part, which sounds cool too. Then the tune ends, I think you should fade it out with the into riff again  Anyways, I feel like I over praised here, but really just in my opinion this is gotta be one of my favorite tunes I've heard on here. You guys kick ass at song writing, cheers :D

I like the intricacy of the guitar / bass groove. Solid drumming. Vocal cuts through the mix powerfully. Also, great intro. Sounds like something a synth would do, but with guitars. Cool and engaging effect.

I think the mix is ok. The drums are really .... gross sounding? Sorry, I don't know how to put it nicely. If you could work on the drums a bit, and I really don't like the bass tone either, it'd be pretty ok sounding.

I think the song itself is really great. Really... really great.
but something about that bass and the drums just sound really awful to my ears.

Thanks for your honesty. Can you try to be more specific?

I don't know which drums you mean specifically - snare? Kick? The whole package?

I think the bass tone kills, so courses for horses- but again, I'm interested in specifics.

Thanks again!

Fuck me blind, great song, Casey!!!!!!!!!!

The guitars need more presence, and I don't mean in an eq sorta way. They're just not there enough for me.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot - the drums. While don't agree about what MadHatter said, I did notice a definite phase issue happening with your overheads. How did you record the drums? I always record the OH mics to their own tracks to make it easier to move one if I have to.

And a little room rev might be nice!

We used the recorderman technique. We didn't test for phase - aren't you supposed to sum in mono and listen for a drop in volume or something?

You think nudging one slightly will do it? Or flipping the phase on one of the channels? This is the second time you've made that comment, so I really want to get this right.... What do you suggest?

I think the bass tone is ok. But it's just not ... bassy enough for me. It cuts through the mix but it seems it was EQed as if to be a guitar. Even with subs there's not much to it.

Listening closely to the drums. I'm being extra picky about the drums because I'm a drummer and an absolute tone nazi. The snare sounds either out of tune, dead or a complete lack of snares. There's no crack to it it seems. It almost sounds as if there snares were turned off. Maybe it's just tuned a little low for the taste of the song.

The kick isn't too bad. The cymbals sound pretty ok.

I agree with what the others said about the guitars. There's not a whole lot of presense to them. They could use some more mids I think.

There seems to be a very high overall presense in your highs but lacks a lot of warmth and mids.

please note that I'm not trying to come off as an a-hole. Like I said, I really like this song, but this mix just doesn't do the song justice. I need to feel more. BTW, I didn't mention.. the vocals sound really good in this.

Also being a drummer, I always pay attention to the drums first, and then to the supporting instruments! ;)

I agree in with MadHatter, in that the snare needs more snare. But that's about it.
Maybe slightly more tension on the snares, or more strands on the snare + a little more high-mid EQ could improve the tone. It's good when a lot of the sound comes from the OHs.
I also prefer higher pitched snare drums, but that's a matter of taste.
I don't hear any phasing problems.

Otherwise, it sounds excelent.

Cheers!

This is a great song. I am not a huge fan of the bass sound, but everything else sounds good to me and I think it is just a really great song.

whooo baby!....I slap at that shit!...right off the table.....
More room reverb please!...else is good to listen to!
Nice vox too....maybe that's what needs the verb?
What are you using to record...software/hardware recorder?...
Well done!

Great song. I like your unconventional approach to structure. Vocals, BGV, bass are super. The interlude around 2:25 hits me as kind of long. I'm listening on headphones and will on monitors lated today but the jangly rhythm gtr is a little loud in spots when it plays punctuating chords.
