THis is the second, slow movement of a much longer suite of movemts I am working on: obscure classical composers.

The whole piece is called the Obsession. This movement is ths Malinconia.

David- All instruments, composer
Blair- All Voices

Its not done yet, need a couple more instruments, but I am looking for any and all Ideas. I WILL Listen, seriously to anyone and appreciate comments

BTW, the violins are muted. NO, REALLY. Thay have mutes on them which gives the sound you will hear. There are 24 violins on this.

Oh yeah, vote HOT!! If so inclinded, I am trying to get this to the top of the soundclick classical charts so mommy will be proud:

Very ominous sounding at the start. Kind of spooky. I dig it. Epic sounding is another description. I think it sounds well mixed. No real critique from me, as this is beyond me.....
Just nice sounds. Very cool.

Thanks for listening Dogman

This piece took me some time to "get it". As I said, this is the 2nd movement out of 4, the first and last are definitely "Woah Cool" fast exciting things. When I started this I didnt know what to make of it. Now, I love this piece. Its got a surprising amount of depth for a little-known composer.

The original composer ( Eugene Ysaye) was a violinist, and taught my violin teacher.

ahhh dangit, i was hoping those violins were MIDI violins! haha, cause i'm interested in adding voilins in some of my music. ;)

good job, sounds great.

.

Do a google for synful or perhaps www.synful.com and listen to their midi violins. WOW. I tried the demo, it works ok and is easy but you gotta slab a ton of reverb eq etc to get them sounding good. Check it out and thanks for checking my stuff out. :)

Hey David,

Firstly I listened on my pc speakers.
The violins are sounding absolutely great.
The voice reminds me of a CD I have called the "Gregorian Chants" which is supposedly a bunch of monks performing various modern day tunes in a medievel style chant with the backing of very haunting sounding orchestration!
The (chimes ) if that is the correct word of the bells could do with an increase in the lows, just to give it a little more fullness.
An electric guitar splattered here and there with a sort of very random but well articulated could be very interesting, without diverging to far away from the whole concept of the tune!

I like it Dave and the recording and mixing is sounding pretty happening there to me!
I am going to download this and check it out on my home stereo, I can hear a very expansive fullness to everything here!

Nice Work David! :)

I am beginning to scare myself with my psycho music babble! :D

The first mvmt of this piece ( which I am working on) is sounding a lot like a piece called Carmina Burana, a bombastic classical thingy used in a lot of films. It wasnt intentional, it just kinda came out that way. I will try to get crankin on it, the one I posted is out of context and doesnt make much sense if you dont hear what comes before it.

This music is based on a chant/mass/requiem thingy called Dies Irae ( Day of the dead).

This sounds like it was played by a drunk guy.

LOVE YA, DAVE!!! :D

(oh, I can't listen right now, but I will)

You do know that that freaked me the fuck out right?

Dont worry I loves yez too Christopher :D

AND you BETTER COME BACK AND LISTEN, this thing seems to be a bomb.

This is a cool and unusually good piece of music. Great combination, IMO, as I love chant... I love well played violin... I love eclectic combinations of things in music...

I'm still working on ideas for a gtr part, David.

Tim

Beautiful, melodic, soothing, moody, dark. Your music always inspires so much imagery when I listen to it. It could fit nicely into a motion picture soundtrack (or any other presentation/performance) that is trying to convey the emotions above. And the playing is excellent as always....Really enjoyed it....

Excellent Tim. Think dark. I was working on this quite a bit today, I want this to be as haunting as humanly possible, almost unsettling. Keep in mind that it comes in the middle of the piece right after the mvmt that sounds like a Carmina Burana bombast.

Thanks, my fellow recording brethren, for listening. I realize that this might not make the pop charts anytime soon, its fairly hard to get through it. The more I hear it the more I like it.

This is really great. Yes a soundtrack in a movie!! I voted hot on both your songs.

I am partial to the second one with the other guys on it. The eclectiveness of it is the hook for me! :)
