Slackmaster2K

Gone
They always seem to come on a sunday evening. Weird.

WARNING: this is quite literally NOISE. A lot of people will absolutely not like this. I only warn because the entire file is around 12MB in size. Therefore I offer the following "preview" link:

If you don't want to hear more, that's cool!

If you want the whole deal, it can be found at my website: http://www.slackmaster2000.com - The Next Day - This will be the eigth and final track on my current project. Warning 2: there is some feedback at the end of the thing that is extremely painful...you may wish to listen at regular volume levels.

The noise was all created live in two 12 minute takes. The noise source was a crybaby wah pedal that just loves to pick up radio stations. It was run into a danelectro guitar compressor, which was fed into a hot tuna tremelo box, which was then fed into this little Realistic personal microphone amplifier thing. By varying the wah, pedals, and amp I was able to create some interesting sounds. I recorded the noise with an MXL603s off axis in front of the speaker. In the computer, I added some compression.

The second noise (hard to pinpoint) is guitar noodling over the top, to which I added a resonant filter in the 'puter.

The teletubbies are the teletubbies, pitch shifted and lofi'd down to 3 bits.

The music towards the end is from another song that is part of this same project.

A stereoizer and a reverb on the master channel and voila: shit.

Being a big fan of the music of S2K, I had to download the whole shebang.......

listened to it once....couldnt believe my ears....listened twice.....I stand amazed......

im just looking for a little more info on the eqipment used....was it Acid or Crack?.......

good thing the rest of the CD rocks.....

in all fairness, music is art and can be neither good or bad.....ill listen again and see if i get it this time.......

Yeah, I'm not sure if I'd really call this music...no rhythm, no melody, no tempo....it's just sound I guess. But it is similar to what I envisioned.

Listening to the 128K 12MB version now.
Some brilliant stuff and then:
those moroccas from Hell. Or maybe an orbital sander?

This was really inspired by that wah-wah radio reception, right?

Some of the peaky shit toward the end (aside from any screechy stuff; sounded like the static that made dobro reload his drivers) needed to be filtered.

I say distill it to 6 minutes for maximum effect.

My Silvered Vacuum Vigreux Column is busy at the moment but a Montana-style coil of 1/2" copper tubing should get the job done.

Haha, where exactly do you hear the moroccas from hell at doc?

Slackmaster 2000

They came in waves; 2:17, 2:30, 2:50 and beyond.... going pretty strong at 4:36.

I guess I was more affected because I ignored your warnings and listened to it LOUD.

Oh hehe, I see what you mean now... those moraccas from hell come from switching the trem pedal from soft to hard. Hah. I think it sounds more like a helicopter.

Yeah, you know how to tweak a control knob riding on a sample. So what? :D

You better join my band before it's too late. :)

I write actual songs.

Plus it sounds like it was done in 16/44. And there're some very unpleasant sounds that come up when the oscillation emerges into the upper registers. Don't put this one on the album. Trust me.

I only say this because I'm right. (no icon on this board has a grin wide enough for me at this point...)

No samples dude, that's all analog real time real life. Real songs suck :)

LOL

Tell you what, though. You get there before me.

What I want on the next album is sounds that sustain and throb.
You've gone and done it already. Without songs. Minimalist. Animalist. Abnormalist.

Speaking of ALBUMS, when are you gonna round out the week and sell a brother a burn, eh? I've got computer-less friends that wanna hear this stuff, and I'm not tossing them any free incomplete albums without you getting some dough.

So FINISH YER DAMN WEEK and GET A PAYPAL ACCOUNT, SLACKmastER!

:D

(hey, Dobro? I caught some of your stuff a couple months ago and enjoyed it. I don't remember posting on it, though... it was right before I got really busy with life's bullshit, too, and didn't get back to it. Would you mind emailing me a link to listenables/buyables? thx!)

First I gotta fix the problem with the comp cd and get it to the duper, then I'll work on the rest of my "album". :) I recently bought a couple mic pres and have to wait for them to get here before I can record the remaining three songs anyhow.

The Tiny Abnormal Animalist

What the fuck?! Why did I go and buy Rolands Effects expansion board when I could have just sampled this shit. Either that or fly S2K to Milwaukee to share some of whatever you're taking in MT.

:D

If I were stoned, I'd either really dig it - or it would make me paranoid.

Really - I ran this through my board & played around with it. It sounds kind of static (no pun intended) as is, but I added a slight pan delay & presto! a lot more depth & impact.

nice noise.

Some giggles would do wonders with this "song"... WHERE'S MY GIGGLE-SAMPLE-PACK!?!?!?!?!
