The next best thing to Mackie 624's???

I have been waiting to buy a pair of Mackie 624's for about a year now. And now I am back home and ready to buy them and get everything started. But I am in a very tight financial situation. I am looking to stretch the dollars as far as they will go.

What do you guys think is "the next best thing" to a pair of Mackie 624s for near field monitoring? Keeping in mind price.

i prefer the much cheaper yorkville ysm1's sound to not only the mackie 624, but also the highly-renowned 824's. in fact, i really disliked the 824's.

I second the Yorkville nomination. I too was in a similar position and preferred the Yorkvilles. I have the powered YSM-1p's and they're fabulous.

I started using the 824s today and it was actually kinda freaky stepping up from my Tannoy Reveals. Everything is so extremely clear and distinct it actually gave me a creepy feeling. I dont know if monitors should do that to you.
