The new Oktava fig. 8 adapter

I've always loved Oktava mics even though I have moved to some more expensive gear. I do use figure 8 mics for mid-side and occaisionally Blumlein.

Can anyone take a look and help me understand if this could work?

There has to be an inch or two of space between the front and back diaphragm. I can't imagine you would really get a true +/- signal from that - we all know how much moving a mic an inch or two can make a difference.
Can back-to-back cardioids really make a figure 8 worth anything?

I imagine since the diaphragms are parallel with extra space it would create a very large null point, which could be very useful, especially in M/S configurations.

What it does is sets the backplates as ground and then adds say 24v to one diaphragm and 48v to the other. That creates a true figure 8 pattern. The spacing of the backplates and cancellation probably tightens the figure 8 even further.

I was thinking it would be the opposite since you are putting the two capsules in different space, they would each get much more different information than if they were closer. Like maybe the null would be very uneven at certain frequencies.
