Hi, folks, it's just me. Here's one for some laughs. "mississippi" and the boys were over on Sat. nite as usual, and Watt (mississippi) was sporting HIS NEW BOW. Been telling us all about it for a couple weeks. How nice it was, costing 230.00 or sumpin like that. Now this is some old country boy, who like the rest of us, has to justify such an expense. Anyway, I ramble, and that's another story. So we get into the normal routine, drinking, eating, herbing, and picking music, and having a great old time. Then old sweet singing Steve Lowery has an old tune to do. One from way back in the day. Now Watt was taking a few vacation days, so he was getting pretty cloudy, as were we all, and we played this tune. And in the middle of one of his sweet playing breaks, oh well, you'll hear. He drops his bow. So have a listen, and join in the laughter.

dan....i love live recordings of people sitting around playing like this and having a good time.....thus i loved this from the minute......

i'm sure a recording like this is just one mic, so there's not much you can do about the mix.......vocals could be louder........next time try setting up two mics for more of a stereo field , binaural effect thing.....i'd love that

good stuff

wouldn't that kick. we use one 603s, and I want another one. thanks, pf, and I hope you got a good feeling. we did!

Nice tune there D. Thats a cool bunch of pickers you got hanging around over there. It always sounds like you have fun. something sounds alittle different about this one, you normally get a little better spread and balance on all of them, but it still sounds good. I can hear the hair sawing on the strings. "chic chic chic cheeeeeeee" , love them fiddles.

Wish I could get my buddies back together. That sounds like a shit load of fun. I may just have to have a little get-to-gether! ;)

Dan, VERY cool. I always have an open mic day here on thursday afternoons and except for music style differences, it sounds like the same atmosphere.:D When he dropped the bow, the laughter was infectuous, even here.:D I wish you guys lived a little closer.

Enjoyable listen...made me sing along like Willie Nelson :D

Wed. nite--7:00pm
Sat. nite--7:00pm
Mon. nite--7:00pm

Wed. always happens, we haven't missed one in quite a while. Mon. is a normal with less pickers, and a keyboard dude comes.
Sat. is maybe twice a month at one of the guys homes or here at my house, if all of'em get drivers. he he he he

Everyone is invited, so if'in you be around south central Virginia, about 20 miles from N.C. (Roxboro) and 30 miles east of Danville, drop in and join in the food, beer, herb, and picking.

What a great picture. I can see everything so clearly. Music and friends, it doesn't get any better. It's great to hear the "fun"along with the music. Sometimes people forget the most important part.

hey James, LOL, thanks dude. I know you're having fun too. All us panty hose dudes have fun.

Joe, hardly a jam nite goes by without one of us saying the same thing. The booze, herb, food and friends are a given, if there's any music, it's just a bonus. And listening back to a nite is great fun also. I normally save most every nite, and when there's stuff that happens, like Watt dropping his bow, it's so much fun to have it on disc.

Thanks guys, later.

Well, my wife and I have been in the fletching/archery business for many years. She was recently dethroned as NAA National record holder in modern longbow due to recent shoulder surgery. You should explain to your buddy that the bow is the world's oldest stringed instrument, and if you're a good bowyer, the sound of a badly tuned bow and a well tuned one is like night and day. Remind him that it is not a percussion instrument!-Richie

SLuiCe, you know, I never really noticed, but my wife's grandparents, on her fathers side, were from Old Town Main. As a matter of fact, they were involved with starting the Old Town Canoe Co. And a childhood friend she grew up with lives in Portland. Small world eh? Anyway, I'd love to be your neighbor.

R.M., them damn fiddle players will do anything for a laugh. Even trying to give our tunz a little percussive punch. he he he he he

Thanks for the listen, glad ya'll enjoyed it.
