The minimum I need

I have a Darla 24 and a DOD 12 channel mixer. I don't use but one track at a time anyway and what I am wanting to know is what can I get to minimize my hardware. All I want to do is plug in a mic (I have a lo-z trans. already) and maybe a 1/4" line in sometimes, but never at the same time.
I use CEP 2.0 for tracking.
What can I do without and what can I get to input my noises into my PC and minimize my outboard hardware to "nothing"?

I hope I'm making sense.

Forget about the lo Z transformer (total poop). You need a mic preamp of some kind. You might be able to use the preamps in your mixer. You don't mention any model numbers so I don't know what you have. If it has mic preamps and either channel inserts or direct outputs on the individual channels, it'll work for you. If not, I'd pick up a stand alone mic pre. They start from under $100 to off the scale.

This is what I was thinking. By saying "use the mic preamps in my (DOD 1220 XL) mixer", what do you mean? I don't want to take the mixer apart and I'm trying to do away with the mixer at my PC workstation.

Can anyone reccommend a decent mic preamp for under 100 bucks? The cheaper the better for I will have to sell the DOD in order to get anything new. All I really need is an outboard input volume for my 1 track projects.

Thanks for the reply.
