I haven't used the intrument in yet because it gets sent to the balanced 1/4" out right? I don't have a balanced 1/4" cable.....just XLRs.

So I'm confused.. You said earlier that you don't know how to put a line in on the Roland 1680.. are you using the Roland to record these samples? Are you running the Davisound out into the Roland mic input effectivly pre amping the signal twice??

Hey Kurt,

Why don't you suck my fucking dick. I though your weren't going to come back here. I thought you were done posting over here. Why are you coming over here to flame me. (sound familiar?)

Go back to you inbred RO forum and post to all you little minions.

Aw, c'mon, Outlaws. Don't sugar-coat it. Why don't you tell us how you REALLY feel about Kurt!

Sorry....I should have done that. You like my new avartar? :D

c7sus and heylow,

Mine doesn't work with the XLR outs when used as a DI. I need to go buy another 1/4" cable sometime, mine has been broke for a long time....don't even know why I still have it.....

When I get one or can barrow one I'll let you guys know because I am very curious about this issue of hum.

I assume yours, c7sus, is balanced like you said, but I vaguely remember hearing him tell me it was HiZ....so I assume I won't have that issue. :)

On my model the instrument outs are 1/4" phone TS jacks.

Stick a pair of headphones into the out and plug in your guitar!

My instrument pres are UNBALANCED.

The instrument pres in yours should be balanced.

LOL!

I notice Kurt doesn't seem to fare so well on forums where he can't delete and edit other people's posts. ;)

Now I'm not normally one to jump on the side of the big KF or anything . . . but he made a point, and I think you should address it.

Your methodology for comparing these mic pres was completely fucked. I'd be interested in hearing another comparison . . . but only after you address your line in issue.

I could care less about Davisound or Kurt Foster or Roland or whatever . . . but I do care about the quality of information that gets passed around on some of these boards. So to anyone who is interested in listening to valid comparisons, then I'd say disregard this particular experiment Outlaws conducted. The results most likely will not be repeated in real world use; what you had was one bad pre compared to a better pre that was routed in to his system completely wrong.

I do appreciate the time you took on this, Outlaws. Your best intentions were certainly in the right place, so for that I say thanks for sharing.

Chess.......I agree.......but I think you missed one hell of a discussion down in the cave. I think you might see Kurt's post in a slight different light. :D

Chess...

I have not read the discussion in the Cave but Kurt's question does show me a picture of a man who hasn't been reading along. That is to say that I think that question was already answered. I mean, I know the answer.

Loosen the fuck up jackass. Homerecording ie limited shit. Fucking rich ass snob.

I'm not sure where this comes from. I simply commented on the way your poll results might be colored by the way your preamp test was designed. . .

That was not cool, Outlaws. You should know better than to qualify your arguments with that "homerecording" excuse. 'Cause that's all it is.

The guys are being helpful in telling you to bypass the Roland pres. In the context of a pre comparison, it's a huge problem.

Kurt was being helpful, and did not personally attack you.

At least not on this site.

OK...

I have now read through all the pertinent threads and I have to say....my head hurts.

There sure are a LOT of angry people with many panties all up in a wad about these 2 samples.:p

I offer this advice to anybody actually arguing and/or getting all up in a huff.....GO RECORD SOMETHING!!!

I mean...isn't that the point?

Sheesh!

:D heylow
