Hi guys.

My vocal coach had me try a "true Opera". Here I'm singing "Porgi Amor" from "The Marriage of Figaro".

Act II of "The Marriage of Figaro". In her boudoir (lady's private bedroom), the Countess Rosine bemoans the Count's infidelity. (from Wikipedia)

Lyrics in Italian:

Porgi, amor, qualche ristoro,
Al mio duolo, a'miei sospir!
O mi rendi il mio Tesoro,
O mi lascia almen morir.

Lyrics translated to English:

O Love, give me some remedy,
For my sorrow, for my sighs!
Either give me back my darling,
Or at least let me die.

Wow nice! Your voice has improved even more just in the short time since your last video! Good job :)

That sounds great! Can I ask you something though? Who's doing all the production work? I mean, 18th (Early 19th) century clothing and bedroom, with the Mona Lisa in the backround? Seems a tad cheesy. Anyway, good job!

Thank you for your kind comment. The comments under the video at Youtube say we hit the setting just right for this scene in the "Marriage of Figaro". That also happens to be my bedroom and the Mona Lisa was drawn for me be my mother. :D

OH! Lol. Well I guess that it had a more intimate feel that I couldn't see. But it's really the performance that matters most, in which you sang nicely.

Most teenage girls have a messy room with clothes piled all over the floor and assorted stuff all over the place.
I speak from experience - your bedroom is not the norm...where's the Justin Beiber and Twilight posters?

It's the Mono (chrome) Lisa!
Nice drawing.
I'd like to read some details about the recording and mixing if possible.
Lovely voice, good choice of material. Isn't there a caveat about young voices not moving to opera until a certain age etc (not unlike the rule with point in dance)?

May I ask a direct question? (Yeah, like I'm gonna wait and/or listen if you say "no...")

I know you are 13, and certainly you don't have to have a direction mapped out, but where do you think you are going with your talents? Classical, as in opera, or choral? Broadway? Pop? Are, or you "trying on different clothes" to see how you like them? I am happy to support you in any way I can (by the way, if you do a recital or performance somewhere in Atlanta- I know you live in this area- I'd love an invitation,) but I do wonder where you think you might be going?

Thanks for the nice comment. I spend most of my time in my music room and it's a little messier if you include the wires and stuff but sorry ... no Beiber. :D

We didn't use anything special for the mix. I use a "Rode" mic and a "Scarlett" audio interface. I plop the sound track into the "Live 8" software and I listen to the headset while I sing. My voice coach doesn't like compression so we only use "medium concert hall" reverb to make it not sound like I was in a vacuum.

In my "Jill's Theme" video my vocal coach didn't even let me put the reverb in so it was uploaded RAW.

Here is a version of my "Jill's Theme" with the "medium concert hall" reverb my dad made.

My parents have asked 4 Opera/Classical experts and they all gave the same answer. It is OK to sing Opera at my age as long as I don't force the sound. I sing at "half voice" using a mic to amplify my voice where an adult Opera singer fills the hall with their voice without a mic. Thanks for your concern. It was a major one for us. :)

The reverb'd version is quite nice - it softens a few edges and is a little closer to the very mellow backing (needs more cello).
I'm glad you're looking after your voice.
Keep posting. Next time consider posting just an audio clip in the best quality you can manage (320MP3 or FLAC) so that we get to hear you a little better.
PS Modelling rather than modeling!
