:mad::mad::mad:

I purchased a Gibson Hound Dog Dobro a few months ago at GC. The guitar appeared to be stable and well set up at the time.

It hasn't stood up to the test of time and endure a slight change of location (20 miles).

I wasted $1000.

I had to buy a new cone and spider from StewMac......and then I discovered that Gibson had drilled a hole through the middle of the original saddle on the original setup and it had split into two pieces and had moved out of position side to side.

WTF?

The moral is...........buyer beware......even it IS made by Gibson.

 I've never had a problem with Yarii.

Sadly, but that is true these days..

I have a Dobro I bought from another band member-he said it had low volume and wouldn't project the sound very well.:(

I opened it up and discovered that the cone was not seated well, there were wood shavings that were causing a poor seal between the cone and the top.

When I played it for him he asked what I had done to get the volume increase from it...he said it was sounding better than ever!

Sometimes it's just the simplest stuff that make the biggest difference!:D

Thanks Tony!

I had a suspicion that you would feel my pain and frustration.

BTW......Happy New Year. I hope 2008 brings you good things. :)

Didn't you have redress with the supplier?
It's not as if there was a loose screw or something. Bloody hell all that to bring it up to scratch.
How does it sound now?
My Mrs bought me a Karrera Resonator for xmas - Chinese brand but it looks & sound GREAT. Not only buyer beware ...brand beware these days too eh? Can't rely on the name in the same way we used to do.

That's why I stick with my cheap Chinese (Rogue) squarenecks. But I feel for ya.

If it was bought new, Gibsons warranty should have covered it. I worked in a Gibson shop and they were always very good for warranty work.

I don't know why you need to buy Gibson for a Resonator, it's supposed to sound as rough and unpolished as possible. The cheaper the better!

But seriously, that sucks. I bought an acoustic bass for 150$ from a pawn shop, thinking the only thing wrong was a minor knick in the neck that someone had covered up with a black putty or something. It broke open, and the main part of the neck is seperating, then the split moves down to the fretboard.

It's cheaper than a BMW or a Mercedes and I don't have to fill it with gasoline.

The guitar needed a new cone and spider and a better set up. I fixed it myself. Lesson learned. :)

Yeah, but you can't hop into it and ride it downtown.

For the price of a Martin I wanna be able to live INSIDE my guitar.
