the flaming lips, dave fridmann's studios, and synth strings

um, ok, this is a weird one, but this seemed the best place for it:

if anyone out there is familiar with the last two flaming lips albums, they'll know there is a lot of nice string, brass and flute stuff on it - all of which is I guess done by synths : - there are no extra musicians listed in the credits, that's not their style, and they sound synth anyway. and both albums were for the most part recorded at dave fridmann's studios in upstate new york. I was curious as to which synths they used for these sounds, so looked at the studio's equipment list at http://tarboxroadstudios.com/equipment.html , but to be honest I haven't a clue which of the synths listed at the end are about.

could anyone out there shed a light? much appreciated?
 
Don't know but the clues are there to some extent. With s imilar setup I would be using samples with some Proteus or Roland string sounds mixed in for weight and presence.

Other than that, your on you own buddy.
