here's a little song i made. came home from work, wrote, recorded, and mixed this song in about 5 hours total. it was inspired by a certain event that took place around here recently, and the style was somewhat inspired by Greg's cool punk song. lyrics are available upon request. enjoy it or not!

the drums are FAKE (obviously) but what i'd really appreciate is for someone who's a good punk rock drummer to record some REAL drums for me for this tune!
i would wait til my new music room is done, but by then the topic might not be relevant anymore. ;) so my excuse for a bad recording/mix is that i'm sitting on my living room floor up against the wall with no treatment and poor speaker placement. this room is big and echoey (it turns into my kitchen also).

thoughts?

EDIT: oh and apparently i forgot to do the fade-out. fuck it its punk rock.

...I dislike this "peppy" sounding pop-punk...;)

The vocals were a bit buried under the guitars?..
Rocking song nevertheless!

LOUD

thanks! i really just wanted to do something with harmonies in it haha, i'm not too into pop-punk myself anyway. but it was fun. and yes its LOUD, gotta stay armed for the loudness wars. ;):D

thanks again for listening.

Not bad man, but the guitars are way too loud. They drown everything out - even the drums.

Cool song though. Sounds very NOFX-ish. Glad I could be of some inspiration. :p :)

Sounds like NOFX + Mad Caddies. Pretty cool. Awsome job on programming those drums.

nice playing on this.. the drums were jamming
it would sound nice if you add a little air around the instruments.. to sit them back a hair. the guitars were a little dry for my tastes
maybe ride the vocals throughout... they were drowning out a little in a few spots

nice work

thanks dudes...yeah i was actually kinda referencing NOFX for this song in particular so thats cool. i'll try and work on the guitars a little bit more and maybe carve out some space for the vox in there.

shameless bumpage! hey if anyone wants to do the drums i'll freakin re-track guitars and vox and make it sound better.

here's the lyrics for shits n giggles:

everything changes
but it ain't ez to understand
what you're going thru and how you got there
the times get harder
and it aint ez to pay the bills
you get the feeling that you must do something now

this is the time
when it's ez to say goodbye
when it's ez to get left behind
what's this about
looks like you've taken the ez way out
now we're all gonna pay

we had our fun
but now it's easier said than done
so pack your shit and get the fuck out of here now

(repeat chorus)

must have done something wrong
he must have fucked up now he's gone
i hope i don't get punished for this song

it's ez to say goodbye
it's ez to get crucified
it's ez to say goodbye
it's ez to say good-fucking-bye!

R.I.P.

Very good pop punk song - as good as some of the stuff I've heard on the raydio man..... Bit loud....Mix could use some refining as mentioned - mostly the battle between guitars and vocals. Performance/Writing is good though.... EZ would be proud.....wherever he is....

:D:):D:)

I like the brawl between vox & axes. That said the bass needs help as it gets caught inside the kick drum sound.
If the vox were clearer it'd be too, (& it's dangeroulsy close as is) poppunkblink128etcish.
Well done.

OK so i made a couple tweaks on the mix. tried to emphasize the kick drum more, as well as help the bass pop a little better. the guitars would probably benefit from another layer on each side, but i'm too lazy to do anymore tracking (unless someone comes along to do the real drums!). i just eq'd them a bit to try and mellow them out. i put a little bit of chorus effect on the vox, but i dunno if im gonna keep it if it comes across as cheesy. also put a bit of reverb on the master...maybe a bit too much though. anyway, went for a little more polished overall sound.

any thoughts/ideas/suggestions?

That's a good tune man! The second link you threw up there sounded good! I was jamming to it.
