I have been busier than heck since the 2 EH preamps arrived a few days ago(gigging, getting ready to go on tour next week), but had to fiddle with them for a moment today. I spent about 10 minutes setting up and here is a 30 second clip.

the set up: Everything in the same room, live

EH pre on vocal/harp mic(AKG C414)
EH pre on Guitar amp (fender deluxe reverb RI, with THD Hotpalte and C414)
EH pre on snare drum( russian oktava MK012)
ART TPS pre on overhead(Oktava russian MK012)

run through delta 66
samplitude master version
PSP Vintage Warmer

I was expecting clips too ;) Glad you're getting some good real world use out of them.

sorry about that! I forgot to put the link. The main thing I notice with these preamps, is the depth they give, compared to the ART TPS preamp. I love Jimmy Reed, and the way he was recorded. My recording have been harsh/brittle in comparison. Now I am finding more of that warmth with these preamps. I am going to have some big time fun getting to know them better. I do everything 4 track. I only need 1 more EH to make it a full sweep. My gig saturday made me almost enough to buy another one. I figure by next week, I will order a 4th! Walter

Damn Walter!

Is that you on those recordings. You the one man band? Holy F***in shit man, you are unbelievably awesome. Seriously.... You sound like beale street in memphis...you have a similar sound to Robert Johnson, you are eerie and I like it, Don't worry about making pres...you are a blues legend man.

Thanks for listening! Yes, that is me, sitting down by myself, recorded live. I make it all up as I go along. That is where Spontobeat comes from. I recorded about 400 full lenght cds this year. I learned the 1 man band concept from backing Wilbert Harrison(Kansas City fame in the 50's). He used a bass drum and high hat. I added the snare to the mix, with a double kick drum pedal. My goal is to get a standard template for recording, with decent sounding gear. I spend only about 5 minutes mixing/mastering a song. That is all the time I have for it, because I want to get back to playing. I am getting closer! Thanks for those compliments. Walter

I can't really tell if the EH's are any good, but I dig your stuff Walter.

I hear that. When I download to an mp3, the quality gets sort of wobbly, and thin, compared to the original wave file. I am no big wheel when it comes to recording, but they do sound very near the old Jimmy Reed stuff in sound quality. Walter

Walter,

as always awesome job.

and i can tell the difference between this pre and the files ive heard with dmp3's and rnp's, even with crappy computer monitors and mp3, very clearly actually.

im now very jealous of you Walter ;)

4?? i cant even afford 1 yet...

i cant afford the 414 either btw.. lol

congratulations and keep up the great work!

thanks diogo! I had a good gigs week, and I will be ordering my 4th tomorrow. I never thought I would get to this point. When I played for a living, all I had was my stage gear, and barely that! I agree with the sound of the preamps. They are defintely deeper than the ART TPS. I recorded about 10 songs with the new set up yesterday. I will post some soon. I will be selling them off soon, and throw that money in my gig bucket $.......... Walter

Walter,

4 of them :)

i was planning on something like that too you know, just replace what i have with as many channels of it as i would possibly need...but i guess i might keep the DMP3 around for the fender hotrod deluxe tracks...im not seeing myself being able to afford that THD anytime soon so...

the concept of what you do is awesome really...i cant imagine having the mental will to play more than 3 instruments at a time (thats my maximum - vocal, acoustic and harmonica just for kicks, i cant really play it, but im trying to learn..i like a neil young harmonica..dylan overdoes it ;) ) ..i sure as hell cant imagine myself playing drums and guitar at the same time...the concept is just overwhelming Walter, keep it up!

Bad Rep from saying something nice about Walter Tore

The Negative rep said:
"He sounds more like my Johnson than Robert Johnson."
I think Walter sounds really great and has vibrato that is very similar to Robert Johnson. I studied Robert's only 29 or 27 in existence, I forget, recordings for a College project.
Anyway my point isn't about that. I am giving a big FUCK YOU shout out to whoever did that to me. I fucking hate the way I and other people get treated on here. What the hell is the Rep. for anyway when it can be abused so. I can't fucking get my head above the water at this place with a decent enough rep to be taken seriously. And I don't mean giving advice...I mean getting it. The Rep thing work where someone with a certain minimum of posts and a minimum of positive rep should even be able to give neg rep. If rep has to exist at all. To whoever did that...FUCK YOURSELF. Okay? PLEASE DO. And for folks like me, could I please have negative rep to show in negative numbers so I can at least have something to strive for? I mean really, I try to give meaningful advice when I feel that I have been there and done that, and my freaking rep says Sporkmyband can only hope for better or some crap like that... I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT!

Another great Rep Folks!

"You sound like a big fag."
That is my latest negative feedback. Tell my fiance that you piece of shit. I'm done.
THIS kind of stuff has nothing to do with an appropriate approval....
No offense to homosexuals out there. Good thing I'm not actually a homosexual, then you'd be guilty of a hate crime. This place should be called homerecordingasseholes.com
Those of you who think it will be original to give me more negative feedback with phrases like
"uh....huh huh, this website should be called whiningsporks.com...or whiningaboutnegativefeedback.com"
FUCK YOU AHEAD OF TIME!

Thanks SONIC!

You are a truly nice guy. Thanks for actually making my bbs addiction someone purposeful.

hey Spork,

thats just the way it is around here...this forum has a lot of helpful ppl with a lot of knowledge, lots of ppl that just want to learn too and seek advice, and lots of lazy folks with nothing better to do

ive been here for a while now and its always been like this, its like second nature, so i guess its not gonna change anytime soon..just dont let it get to you ;)

its just chicklets...if you really wanna give them a big "go to hell", just get this pre ;)

(they hate it when i do this lol ive got neg reps saying electro harmonix is paying me ... i wish...i wouldnt have payed so much for 4 of their stomps i own..either way, and as usual with them and normally not with the rest of this industry, their product is worth every cent u pay for it) ..
