The DM24 is the most user-unfriendly mixer I've ever seen.

Having said that, I think I'm gonna learn to love this thing, but the layout sucks for those people who grew up on more intuitive boards. If you didn't have the manuals, it would be almost impossible to run the thing. But ya gotta love it when you first kick it on and watch all the faders do their dance.

Though I work with a couple of older TASCAM M312B Analog desks, cascaded together with no automation other then the beauty of the human mind, I too had to learn how to use them by reading the manual.

Cheers! :)

I did read the manuals. Still can't figure out how to get the DM24 to operate as the remote for the Mackie hard disc recorder. Way too many buried options.

I''ve got a DM-24 I'll sell you :) Its in great shape and hardly gets used.

Till I get this damn thing talking to the Mackie HDR2496, I ain't getting another one. No wonder yours hardly gets used. :)

No the Dm-24 is a wonderful mixer, just a pain in the a-hole to learn. Once you master it your good to go.

Looks like the same old thing,...

in brand new drag!

I love my DM 24. I use it with my DAW, and as a control surface. If I'm on location, works great with my hard disk recorder. I've even used it for a live sound gig. Worked great, I sound checked each band, then saved it as a snap shot. With a push of the button I was able to switch from band to band.

I believe that's true, once I figure out how to use it. That's the hard part.

anyone know of a good flight case for this thing? i'm thinking about buying a dm24 and not sure what case i should look into getting.

Yes, it's still unfriendly as as hell.

One of the biggest problems with this board is that when you purchase it, most never really calculate at least a weeks worth of a learning curve. So in your case Harvey, ( and Im just making my own assumptions ) You probably spend most of yor time doing actual billable work. Meaning you cant just devote enough time into the DM24. LOL. When I first got mine it took me a while and I had been using a TMD4000 a while before the DM24 even came out. I basically had to totally change my approach to this one. But, other than a 9to5, I had nothing else to do but play with toys. I did more studio toy playing than recording.

Try to devote a day or so to it and make sure you have all of the pieces you are going to use as well as internet access for questions/ Once you learn it, you'll like it. It's a very flexible mind bogglinig machine. LOL
