I didn't know where else to post this question, so I guess right here is as good as any. =)

One of our band members recently built a garage, and of course, we wanna practice there.

However, we all live way out in South Dakota, so we're talking some reaaaalllly cold ass winters.

We allready know not to leave our instruments out there (guitar would look like a boomerang!), but what about all the other equipment... Like the amps, speakers, etc.

Will this stuff be ok? I assume it would be, but what the hell do I know? =)

It shouldn't be a big deal. I did crew for a band that left everything except their guitars and drum shells in an unheated storage unit, summer and winter. PA, mixer, mics, FX, etc. 17 years, no problems.

I have a remotely similar situation. I am recording in my unfinished basement that has no heat/AC. My band practices down there as well. I wasn't sure if it was OK to leave pre-amps, mics and a MOTU 828mkii all set up down there for recording.

Actually I should qualify that.
There were no condenser mics in that gear, I could see a problem with moisture condensing on them if they get warm too fast, like glasses fogging up.
When I gig in the winter I leave my guitars in their cases closed up so they warm up nice and slow. A guitar finish can crack if it gets warm too fast.

Never found a basement or garage that got warm too fast, though. :)
