Thanks for your interest Allen. :)

The stuff in the ad was advertised for local cash and carry sale only as most of the items are too bulky and troublesome to ship safely. The CD recorder though is a more normal sized item and I guess that could be shipped without too much effort or risk so I might consider that...though shipping would obviously cost the buyer more to cover it being packed, insured and shipped properly.

PM me if you want to work out the arrangements on that.

Cheers! :)

I used to have a 74 SG like that. Same color.

Also I met the guy from craigslist at a local donut shop to pick up my soundcraft board . Why can't you? :D

Because I'm allergic to donut shops.

Its a shame you lost interest...i hope that never happens to me...

I was involved with playing and recording for more then 25 years and am still involved in helping people out where I can on this and several other on-line forums. No shame in any of that. ;)

Cheers! :)

Funny - I saw this ad when I was reel to reel hunting!

In hindsight it would have been a better buy than the 80-8 I picked as I'm sure your machine was in better order... and who knows what it will cost to get mine up to speed. The price was just more than I wanted to shell out at the time... oh well... life goes on.

Good luck! I'm sure quality stuff like that will get snapped up

There's this donut shop here that puts bacon on maple bars and fruit loops on some other donut. I still think you should try one and keep the SG. (I'm still mad at myself for getting rid of my ARP Odyssey in 1991.) :(

Well, the ad has been up for over 6 months now and I still have the SG. Several people have inquired about it. None of them had the money to buy it, which confirms my theory that all musicians are habitually broke. :drunk:

And even if it did sell and I decided to get one again, there is no shortage of SG's on the market. Last week on Toronto's CL, there were 45 of them listed.

Cheers! :)

Thanks and best of luck to you getting your 80-8 into shape. What issues does it have?

Cheers! :)

Biggest issue is the heads... monitor head has an open gap on track one. Normal head looks okay, but track one has no top end.

Have to get it calibrated before I can really comment, but its either $200 for the MRL tape or $200 over at tele-tech to get Patrick to set it up... time will tell. Have to wait a bit as I just brought an upright piano home and my wife is getting tired of my gear lust!!!

Just wish those MRL tapes were more economical!

Somethings sounds weird there beyond calibration.

Normally, as a repro head wears, the top end response actually rises just before it dies then there is supposed to be extreme distortion once the open gap appears...which can only be corrected by putting a new head on the machine. Record heads work in the opposite direction with the highs disappearing as it wears to the point of death.

Also, depending on the tape wrap tension, both heads should wear down evenly if everything is set up decently so, it sounds like it might be an issue of your sync head being at the end of its life and the repro head not far behind it if there is a visible open gap. If that's the case, you'll be wasting your money on Patrick doing a calibration on a finished set of heads. Best to just shop for some new heads and once installed, recalibrate only at that point.

Good luck with your wife. :D

Cheers! :)

Jeff, I must say that I wish you the best with this continuing saga.

Your MS-16 package is worth a lengthy drive AFAIC...That is THE best deal I've seen on an MS-16 considering it is fully loaded, fresh and literally ready to go in every sense, and includes spares...it is a good price even without all those perks. I've never seen an MS-16 I would feel 100% about purchasing except for yours (excepting Ethan's, but yours has been actively for sale for much longer :))

Good luck, Jeff.

P.S. Have you thought about eBay local pickup ONLY?

Thanks Cory! :)

I have wanted to avoid the ebay route as I don't have nor like the Paypal system. I don't like how it one-sidedly protects the buyer at the expense of the seller. Don't like giving up the % they take from the deal either. But more importantly, the Canadian government monitors the higher priced ebay auctions for tax evasion and collection purposes and I'd rather not have big brother smiling down upon me.

CL may draw in a seedier crowd of patrons but I'm willing to deal with that in order to do a cash and carry, face to face deal.

Cheers! :)

I hear ya.

I've actually been really pleased with all my CL dealings. Met some cool people too. All the bigger pieces of gear I've sold have all happened either word-of-mouth (the BEST way IMO) or via CL. Just hope you get some bites soon.

OK, (and I've never tried that bacon/maple bar combination either....):drunk:

Hey Jeff, I'd like to hear some songs you've recorded on the Tascam in the analog forum. Do you have any to share?

When the band broke up that I was in, it was under some pretty ugly conditions that I'd rather not get into here. So basically, I'd rather not open up any legal issues by posting material that has other ex band members on it. :o

Cheers! :)
