the classical guitar tune is all done guys. I hope you like.

the time signature change in the middle of the song is different, so it might take some gettin' used to.

I also dropped my guitar pick on the table after a guitar cut and left it in there because it was on beat :) at ~1:50

well... id better get back to my other projects..

thanks for listening guys and gals

tune is still not named, but called contemporary new age classical guitar

very nice....

Omg, I just might have to restring my puke stick, Very nice!
I like this sort of ambiant mood thing. Honestly I think you should change the Title to Once Upon A Blue Moon. The song lends itself to a variety of emotions, feelings & places and I think that the name should inspire a storey for the music, but then thats just me. Please feel free to take your drum machine and sentence it to gasoline death as you dance naked around it in repent. Really, save up for something more realistic sounding and take your music to the next level.

ahhhh.... nice....... the boink drum got to be a bit much though. I really liked where you let the tune breathe.

ditto on the "boing" drum... that needs to go. It ends up that that was the low end "buzz" that I was hearing in the rough mix. Maybe replace it with a softer bass drum or another type of perc.

Other than that.. this is great stuff. Really relaxing. Well played. Nice mix.

nice stuff...especially for a guy that uses more reverb than me!!

More background kinda stuff...but thats ok.... except when you let your fingers wiggle a little faster in parts on those solo notes;)

I ALMOST hate to say this...but I might 'tame' the reverb just a tad.... naw...I can't say that...against the grain of my total thinking.

Hey J,
........wow, beautiful guitar work man. Very nice. The tune has a touch of a celtic feel to it. I like the sounds that youve got going too.........new triton studio? Ive gotta agree w/ the folks regarding the boink drum though...... kinda sticks out a bit and takes the attention away from the rest of an otherwise really beautiful song. I like the time change too.....cool Nice stuff bro,

g

btw: the pick drop was cooool....... you aughta sample that:D

BEE-YOOO-TEE-FULL.

Really nice recording. The change at @ 2:21 seems "off" to me somehow...not a meter thing, really...just sort of sounds like an edit.

How's that for amorphous. Again...nice work.

(sorry for interrupting)

This is beautiful Jeff.Im with Guernica on the celtic thing....It definetly has a celtic vibe to it.....very moody....I could hear this playing on late night jazz stations all over the country....really dig the piano....the boink sound does get a little old after awhile....maybe you could substitute something else for that part....just personal preference of course....yeah,this is good....the fall season will be here soon and Im sure it will evoke many more tunes out of your new guitar.

The change of seasons seems to be a creative time for all the muscians I know.....especially fall and winter.

Nice tune Jeff.

the more i listen to the song the more monotonous the boing drum sound sounds. I definitley will work on a more creative/"real sounding" backing track...
my whole goal is to try to create something that everyone can relate to yet have a different element to it. i guess thats why im trying to meter the song in a different way(unconventional song format)...... i hope im getting a signature in the process :)

i'll reply to all your comments tomorrow... i need to catch some zzz's

thanks again for your valuble input guys!

Cool. I think a bodhran (Irish drum) would be a nice replacement for the boing drum.

:) Well done. This song would be great for my drive home in the L.A. traffic. Interesting, yet tranquil. Very nice.

Real nice,I like the backround instruments.
Nice writing, the song really flows well.

Seems like there was a little too much reverb, makes the guitar scrapes more pronounced also.IMHO
Also the tempo changes aren't pronounced enough.
I think it's because the bass drum dosn't change with them.
Again,just my humble opinion.:D

I like the guitar and piano playing together, nice fit.
You really play well.

Very enjoyable,thanks.

:D:D:D
Very, very nice......you might try something with a higher frequency content to it in place of the boing drum. A cabasa maybe.

Good, good playing and I liked everything about the song's structure.

Ok. I listened to "contemporary new age classical". Maybe this was the right one...

Those weirdo-bongo-type-drum-things (which name escapes me right now) first sounded like some guitar-playing flaws, but then I started to notice they are those weirdo-bongo-type-drum-things. They'd work better if they were not in the middle, I guess. Pan them to one side a bit or make them surround. The weirdo-bongo-type-drum-thing also sounds it's making some dissonant harmony sounds (ok, now I'm sounding too fancy here :D ) in the middle part when the time signature changes. You know, there's kind of a conflict between it and the guitar, because it's not just a drum-thing. It has a recognisable pitch.

The song is relaxing and good. Could use some solo parts. Not a guitar solo necessarily but some kind of thingy or maybe a vocal thingy. I'm babbling here, so I'll finish this thingy here :D

Beautiful song! Excellent playing! I really like the changes throughout and feel that they fit the song well.

I didn't think the drum was that bad, but I can see where maybe a bit of variety in the percussion may spruce it up a bit.

Very nicely constructed tune! I really love the ambiance of it! :)

i worked on the song some more. I took out a bunch more drum sounds and added bass guitar to taste :)
I think its sounding better.... I dont think I'll stop messing with the song til everybodys happy :)
the new song name is smooth travel

Good idea for the title. Your ending comment made me laugh a bit.. i thought that was kinds funny with the drum machine. I keep trying to get better with making backing beats... Idealy, a real human on the skins would sound great! Someday. Thanks for your thoughts.

JR
Yeah... I think you'll like the tune better now... did some minor boink tweaking :)

WATYF
I took down boing channel 3 db and deleted about 1/4 more of it in the track.
I still enjoy listening to your soug... "Everyday". Nice writing
Thanks for the comments

Mix
hey mix.. would ya ever believe someday I would use more reverb than you :) I love reverb too... I cant get enough of it as you can tell. I added some more background stuff.... It still could use a little more background goodies.. maybe.. Thanks!

G
Thanks man.. yeah i sense the celtic feel vibe... I dont know how it got in there :) Yeah .. thats the new triton -- it is such a cool keyboard.. it has an endless supply of sounds in it. If it wasnt soo heavy I would prob. sleep with it in my bed :) That will be great when you get you Triton! You wont be disappointed.
Yeah... I'll do a dance song with my pick drop sample

chrisharris
hey thanks! It wont take long to get used to the key/meter change... it is different-- that was my objective. :) It pushes the song along into a different feel. Thanks for your opinion...

Kramer
THanks Kramer... Boy.. that would be cool to get on some jazz stations at night :) When I finish my cd I plan on making a stop at the local radio staion. Yes... my new guitar is just warming up for the season :) It seems like a more dynamic instrument to play because of the way the nylon sounds with the attack of your fingers... there is a whole world of colors from the soundhole to the bridge!

smilestoned
Hey thanks for stopping in the add to the comments... welcome to homerec!

barefoot
bodhran... hmm interesting.. i'll have to see if I have a sample of that. I'll have to give it a listen. Thanks!

Joe
Yes... the song is a journey song.. hence the name. :) im glad ya liked

muzeman
Im glad you liked. Getting all the background sounds in there takes a little it of time... but its well worth the effort. I agree there is a bunch of reverb in there.. I took a little bit off. I agreed that the drum was taking away from the feeling of the change, so I added a stick and took the drum away.. also added bass. I think it sounds much better now. Thanks a bunch!

Ltbob
Thanks Lt. ..the drum if where the bottom end is in the song. There is no bass guitar until the break. so I would have to change the stucture of the song. Great idea you have though.

Cranky
wow.. your getting philisophical on me :) I understand what your saying... I did some rekindling... I hope ya like the updated sound. Thanks!

boydrj
Thanks alot for your comments... your the only one that liked the drum :) cool! I did take it down a few db's though.. it was taking over the mix a bit... take care!

Man that sounds good. This mix is great! I like it too much to critique......fine, fine...............

sorry I missed this one Jeff.. I guess this is the second version.. excellent piece.. I liked it on many levels so I refuse to complain about anything..

this time.. :)
