aaaa I see, a fellow Buffalo-nian. Well I've always been around guitars because my dad played when he was younger so we have his old Harmony guitar from circa 1967, haha. Then he hand made a Strat replica, pretty impressive. My brother ordered a bunch of parts and put together a SRV replica. We recentley bought a Takimine acoustic. Finally about a week ago for about $25 my brother bought this beat up epiphone SG special (shit). But we realized that me and him have only really been exposed to single coil pickups for the longest time. We actually really like the way the humbuckers sound, being able to play chords with distortion and being able to hear each string is nice. I'm sure some people do the exact opposite of what we did (get used to humbuckers and then hear single coil). But anyways to make a long story short, my brothers birthday is the 8th so I was considering putting some money together with my parents to buy him a Les Paul. I know that an actual Gibson is way out of our price range at this point, plus... there really isn't that much of a difference. Just like Mexican strats compared to Americans. So i was looking for one of the Epiphone versions, I know my buddy has one that sounds pretty nice, I think he paid $600 at Guitar Center. But I was just wondering what everyone here thinks the best Epi version is?

nick, btw its that tommy eat world kid from aim..haha. Just a heads up. The custom plays better than most of the gibsons i have played...gibson is half name/half greatness...because honestly, who doesnt feel awesome holding up and playing a gibson. But regardless, still is a name. The standards are nice, i was thinking about a cherry sunburst one, but customs are sick.

Nick take a ride over to airport music. Great guys to deal with.
