also known as the battle of palmito hill, it was the final battle of the American civil war.
It is a bittersweet story, since the confederate forces had already surrendered the war, but no one at Palmito Ranch knew that.
An unnecessary battle, this song memorializes the end of an ugly chapter of American history.

update:

this is a new alternate mix for this song,
which i'm favoring over the original:

THIS is a new mix, with a new technique i'm working on the mastering side of things

Guitars are very clean, good sounds. Something grungy, more sullied could sound good too.
Mix is quite bottom light and forward in the speakers. Really liking the lead break on Eastwest..good jam

I like it. It's quite transparent and overall sounds good. I don't even think it's bottom light. I'd keep it as it is.

HEY BULLS, thanks for the listen

those guitars are all done with the strymon iridium.
i had just gotten that unit, when i started tracking this batch of songs.

my mix playback here, on monitors and cans, has quite a bit of bass.
doing a spectral analysis, shows it's right in play with typical pro releases.
i'll go back and look at where i'm peaking, and figure out some more lows with the kick sub and low bass.

East West IS a cool jam! glad you heard that one, i'm remixing that one right now.

I thought this was really well done, and quite emotive. I like the tones you get out of your guitar

thank you for listening, johny r
yea, i don't think it's bottom light either,
i've checked it on several playback systems, and the curves i'm looking at show plenty of low end.

last call on the new version,
which seems to be the one that everyone else is saying to use...
