Hello guys...

I got the Cubase LE with my Zoom G7.1ut guitar processor. Installed the software and everything was working fine. Even recorded a few songs.
Suddenly when i open the Cubase, the message "The Audio Engine could not be started" appears followed by two more messages telling that there are no audio input or ouput devices, and I have no choice but to press the 'ok' button.
I am running Cubase on Windows Vista 64 Bit.
I have googled a lot for this problem but have not found a satisfactory solution till now.
Please tell me if it is possible to fix this problem at all? I have tried almost everything but nothing works and i really need to record. The Windows Sound Properties does show the "USB Audio Codec" as one of the devices and I have set it as the default device.
Also, since this thing worked before, I have some hope.
Please help me out.

Do you have the Zoom connected when it brings this error up? Sounds like it cant find the zoom hardware, or the ASIO driver is somehow corrupted.

It will be something along the lines of a corrupt driver, or you messed up something when setting your default audio card. You should disable the internal card and use your interface as a glorified sound card. When I've accidentally left the internal card enabled, I had all sorts of trouble. Also, if you have multiple firewire devices on the same buss, there may be conflict.

Yeah... The Zoom processor is connected well. The problem is that the Windows can detect the hardware and Windows Sound Recorder can even record my guitar sound, but it cannot be detected in the Cubase LE.

Just as a long shot, use System Restore and go back to when everything worked tickety-boo. Now check your device manager and 'see' what devices are enabled and/or disabled. I'm still leaning towards the audio card.
