Terre en danger

Did you mix this with headphones? My first take on the vocals were that they were too far back, but on a second listen with headphones on they sounded better.

Mild criticisms would be: the tone of the guitar is a little too midrangey for me; I don't like the instrument voice you chose for the solo breaks at 3:45 and at 5:12 (though what you are playing sounds great, very tasteful); and, frankly, it's a little long. At the least I wouldn't go back to that synth solo outro for a minute plus at the end.

But it is a nice tune, well performed and competently recorded. I like the guitar & synth blend. I like the vocal styles. I especiallly like your slipping the guitar's verse pattern under the last two repetitions of the chorus. It's a nice touch.

Hi

I use my sound system for mixing. For the vocals, I used a 2:1 compressor and my digital reverb Rolland SRV 3030. For this song, I used the "Reverse Ambiant" effect. I don't know what this is simulating but that was the best effect for that song.

That's the first mix of the song and I agree that there is a lot of mid range in the guitar. I will reduce it to make it sound smoother. I might try to put back the spring reverb or/and delay one of the entries to make it sound more thick.

For the lead, I was tempted to pop a massive lead guitar solo but I'm out of tracks (I use an Yamaha MD8, 8 tracks). Also, my ability to make lead guitar solo is limited. For the length, I will keep only 1 pass of the lead at the end instead of 2 and I will start the fading in the middle of the pass.

Thanks for the feedback, I will work on this next week-end and hopefully, it will sound better next week.

Thanks again,

Jack Real.

I don't know quincy, I'm generally saying that songs are too long but this song did not bore me at all.
Probably because Jack's story-telling ability is very strong.
I only wish I understood the language:D
Like the other songs I have heard from you this one has a high production value.
The drums are a bit 80's sounding. I would like to see a different sound-font in use thats all.
And you could use a heart-felt guitar solo somewhere in there.

You do a great deal with what you have though and that has to be appreciated and enjoyed.

Hi

Thanks. The song is about the events in Irak. I'm trying to tell the story of the invasion a bit like Nostradamus wrote his prophetic centuries in 1560 but in a more comprehensive way.

For exemple, references to Bush and Blair together in that war:

"Nobody in the alliance is fallowing this false good-natured"
"Except for the lion, who is his brother and used to be his father"

For the drums, it's true that I'm getting lazy. I should try to be more creative with that instrument. Today, the sound of the drum is almost a straight copy of the last song and I'm being doing that for the last 4 songs.

Thanks,

/Jack Real.
