I'm very close to purchasing a Terratec Phase 88, and I want to know for sure if it will be compatible with my system. I'm running an AMD Athlon XP 2600+. I also would like to know if I can use it with Cubase SX. It's kind of hard to find information on this product for some reason. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

With a bit of luck you may find somebody having this combination. Else, I'd say that mailing to Terratec is the shortest way to an answer.

Or....does it support Asio 2? If the answer is yes then it's a safe shot.

Terratec Phase 88 should work just fine with Cubase SX (ASIO 2 ) and AMD Athlon XP but you might want to compare results of these benchmarks done with Right Mark Audio and Cubase SX with much cheaper Terratec DMX 6 Fire 24/96 and Phase 22 (if you don't need 8 channels of ADC)

SNR (db): 93 (Phase 88), 95 (DMX 6), 95 (PHASE 22)

Cubase Test (Luigi) (idle/runnning CPU usage%) 29/41 (Phase 88), 30/41 (DMX 6), 32/48 (PHASE 22)

Cubase test (Timo) Idle/running CPU usage%) 52/78 (Phase 88), 52/79 (DMX 6), 53/80 (PHASE 22)

Right Mark (44.1KHZ)

Noise level (dba):-95 (Phase 88), -93.6 (DMX 6), -97.8 (PHASE 22)

Frequency Response (db):+3.44, -15.54 (Phase 88), +5.03, -3.70 (DMX 6), +0.00, -0.00 (PHASE 22)

THD: 0.0066% (Phase 88), 0.0011 (DMX 6), 0.0003 (PHASE 22)

Intermodulation:0.0094% (Phase 88), 0.0160 (DMX 6), 0.0037 (PHASE 22)

Stereo Crossstalk (db): -96.3 (Phase 88), -93.3 (DMX 6), -99.4 (PHASE 22)

These three with M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 were the best in comprehensive VIDILab testing of many prosumer and entry level pro Audio cards such as ( Digidesign M-BOX, ESI Wami Rack 192x/192L/Waveterminal 192L/192M..., STA dsp2000 C-Port/7.1 Media, M-Audio DUO,Audiotrak Maya EX5...

Thanks for the responses guys. I hope to be able to get the Phase 88 within the next few months, as soon as I get the cash.

see, I don't understand the differences in soundcards by the benchmarks really...how does the phase 22 compare with say...the echo mia or audiophile 24/96. people say it's identical to the audiophile cause it has the same convertors. but the audio rightmark tests(RMAA) show it was tested in 32 bit/ 96khz...when all these other cards were tested in 24 bit.

so the big difference in the 22 and the audiophile is it has balanced inputs...which is nice. are they pro level though? i can't find the specs on that. and why is the frequency response test above of the phase 22 so different than the others:
Frequency Response (db):+3.44, -15.54 (Phase 88), +5.03, -3.70 (DMX 6), +0.00, -0.00 (PHASE 22) Is this bad??

i'm about to buy the mia but the phase 22 is $80 cheaper on a couple websites... so i'm trying to hunt down info on it, but it's been really hard.
