Hi guys. Newbie here. I currently have a Tascam 4 track that i've used for about 5 yrs. I'm wanting to get in the digital domain since I built a rockin computer that can handle it. Has anyone heard of or used the Terratec DMX 6Fire 24/96 card/system? I read a review on Tomshardware.com and it sounds great for a non-professional card.
Also, is there anything else I will need if I have a good computer, sound card with inputs and some sort of software (cakewalk, cooledit). Is everything else just icing or are some things better. I don't do techno so the "analog" sound is preferable.

Thanks for the help.

Andy

Terratec DMX 6fire

I've had years of analog experience, but I'm also new to digital recording.
I have been looking for a suitable soundcard, had BAD experiences with M-Audio, and thought I'd found the ticket with the Terratec DMX, primarily because of reported sound quality, and the variety of I/Os (it has everything BUT an XLR input, although the LT newer version has XLR - but to my understanding no midi - darn!).
I also read the article you mention. Maybe I'm missing something, but the article stated the necessity of "investing in a dedicated card". I thought the DMX WAS a soundcard with breakout box!
At the moment, I'm still using the SoundBlaster Live that came with my Dell, and searching the vast wasteland for more info on what the heck I need to record with Sonar 2 XL!!!
If you've made any info progress, please let me know!
Thanks!
