Hi!

I'm thinking of buying this card, but I have few questions that I'd need help with.

1. How many tracks it is possible to record at a time, and I mean analog inputs? There is one analog input on the pci card itself and another on the front panel, right? but can I use phono input allso(I mean can I switch the riaa of)? So that would make 3 stereo inputs / 6 mono inputs + mic total ... Is this possible?

2. Does multitrack recording work with cooledit pro 2.0? Has anyone tried with this card?

3. Can mididata be recorded at the same time as audio?
(depends on the software, right?)

4. Can I use those rear/lfe/center outputs as normal stereo output?

Or should I consider some other card... I'd like to be able to record at least 2 stereotracks at the same time, and midi connectors should be also. And low latecy time, because I'm thinking of triggering drumsamples via midi using e-drumkit.
But it shouldn't cost more than 200-250$

..and sorry my bad english :(

Honestly, I used to have a Terratec card, and after going to Aardvark Direct Pro Q10, I have to say I am not impressed with the Terrate AD converters, as they tend to produce blurry stereo image. Instead I'd look into the M-Audio products, everybody seems to be speaking highly of them, and they are reasonably priced. Maybe some of the M-Audio users will chime in ;)

Thanks for reply!

Yes, I've been looking those M-Audio cards also.
Delta 66 is a bit too expensive for me, but isn't Delta 44 basicly the same card, but without S/PDIF-I/O ? Delta 44 might be something I can afford.. Then again there is no midi in those cards.

There is midi in Audiophile 2496, but is it any better than terratec?
It seems to have 6 rca-connectors, so it's only one stereo in, because output takes the next two and s/pdif i/o two?

That Breakout-box, which founds in terratec and delta 66/44 would be very hany too, because I propably have to rewire my system often.

Hmm.. This is getting difficult ;)
Is the Terratec really that bad?

Isn't there really any Terratec user here, who could help me out?

I'm in the same boat!

hello,
I've posted the question on the message board just before yours. I have no reply yet, and I've tried before with none. But you can see my position from reading my question,

Best Wishes,

Dan

Hi Dan!

I read your post, and renemberd this link:
ftp://ftp.terratec.net/Audio/DMX6fire2496/Helpfiles/DMX6fire_CubaseSX_Tutorial_GB.pdf
It might help you with your problem, if you haven read it yet?

But I understood that you have Terratec dmx6fire?
So can you switch the riaa-correction off from the phono input?

That would give an extra analog input to use with recording
multitrack..

And those two or three stereo analog inputs would be enough for me.. If I just could be sure that it works :)

Comments are more than welcome :)

If you're not recording an entire band at one time, the Terractec card will work fine. It has the exact same A/D/A converters as the M Audio cards use. Sound quality is not an issue, it's impeccable. 69shadesofred has an obviously biased agenda if you bother to check his other posts. He's a Terractec basher for whatever reason

But if if you want to record multiple sources at one time, strictly mixer level +4db, I'd suggest something more like the Phase 88 from Terratec or one of the Delta lines from M Audio.

It sounds like what you're looking for though, might be something along the lines of a Terratec 6 Fire and all the goodies that come with it such as the Midi I/O, Co-ax I/O but also wanting multiple inputs (I would guess at least 2?) so you can record all of these things simultaneously. The Six fire won't record multiple inputs simultaneously as far as I know, but I'm pretty sure that these will do the trick

M Audio

Terratec

Phase 28

Good Luck
