I took the high and low "E" string off of one of my cheap nylon stung Folk guitars. Then tuned it to "fifths" from lowest to highest "CGDA". Sounds really good. I got the tuning and chord info from www.tenorguitar.com
I was wondering if anyone owns a real tenor guitar and if anyone knows if there are any still made that are"nicely" priced. :)
Thanks.

Yep, I've played tenor eleven guitars in my life ...:D
Seriously, though, I've always been interested in tenor guitars since I saw a guy named Eugene Smith play one (mainly blues) when I was younger.
Anything good has always been a bit out of my price range, though, especially for something I wouldn't get too much use out of.
I figured that a tenor/plectrum banjo might be a better choice for something different.
I like your idea of converting a guitar to try it out, though.
Cheers,
Mike

I've got a mandocello which is the same tuning but an octave lower with 8 strings. A bear to play but it sure sounds good.

Ive seen the Danelectro but I belive they call it a baritone.

From memory, Fender used to make a couple of different long scale (tenor or baritone, I'm not sure) electrics a few years ago. One was a Tele and the other may have been a Jazzmaster.

Why can't I find old Frontline mags when I need them:mad:

But knowing Fenders' ways of changing their product range, they have most likely been discontinued.
