Anyone ever run a monitoring program on your CPU temperature while Sonar is running. I have a new P4 and it goes from 40C/101F to 50C/123F in less than 4 minutes by the time the song ends. Thats what I call a hot sound.

My AMD Athlon XP 1.9G runs at 58 degrees C! Even hotter. I can reduce this to 53 by using a card mounted fan. I have discovered that placing this next to the video card gets rid of more heat than even adding a case fan. I'm just lucky that the ambient temperature is London UK is around 20 deg C. I'd dread to use this equipment state side where the ambient temp is nearer 30.

mine will do 45-50

and 50- 55 on the 2nd processor(2nd processor has a cheaper fan)
on althon MP 1900+

Sound, 3D and even Photoshop filters are VERY processor intensive.
The amount of mathematical calculations requierd by these programs are mind boggling.
All that math equals a LOT of heat.....

Thats why Celerons somtimes bog down when using a lot of plug-ins, the chips 64k of on board cache just isn't enough.

I had to check with my motherboard manufacturer to get a motherboard monitoring utility that included a CPU temp check. I also recall there being a generalized one out on the web, but I don't remember what it was called. I would just search for CPU monitor :)
