everything sounds distant.

playing is solid but it sounds like you mic'ed things pretty far away. what configuration did you use?
 
Config

If config is mike positioning, then i did:
drums:
1mic overhead (over toms)
1mic snare
1mic bass drum
guit:
1mic at 1cm of amp.

I agree...it has a VERY limited bandwidth. Like a single mic picking up the sounds at the doorway.

It sounded to me like one mic was used. Since that was not your setup, there's something amiss going on.

Maybe give a few more details... what mics were used? what is the rest of the signal chain (mic preamps, D/A converters, or sound card, etc.)?

That info might help people offer advice. Just a thought...
 
After a few listens

in a few environments, (home stereo, computer speakers with subwoofer, reference monitors, and headphones )

I can hardly distinguish the bass drum
some of the snare hits are pretty crisp but tend to overwhelmed by the cymbals (which are thin)
toms blend together

guitar is and drums seem to be fighting each other for position sonically (perhaps this is your intent)- once vocals come in this becomes less apperent.

dynamic range for entire mix is very limited but vocal dynamics are good.

My $0.02--bring up the drums (kick especially); maybe EQ a bit to get the snare and toms a little meatier. Bring the guitar down a tad.

4 tha PUNX!!!Nice to hear ya.Kickass tune.The recording is not great...but this is the place to get the required assistance.Definately deserves a better recording.Tight musicianship.
 
The recording does have a sort of buzzcocks quality about it that's good.........but really, it needs work in every department.

The song rocks though...yeah sure it's simple, but you're not pulling any punches, I like that.

Thanx for your replies, all. Next time i'll put up kick drum a bit, define toms a bit more and lower the guitar a tiny bit :)
Is the reverb (very little) good on the vocs?
