I have put together a telecaster.

I wired it all up but it is sufferiing from major hum.

I have looked all over the internet for a wiring diagram but to no avail.

I have also copied the wiring from my other tele and it still didnt fix the problem

any ideas?

its a standard USA tele with a TBX tone pot.

thanks in advance

thanks for the reply,

i tried grounding it but it didnt seem to work.

where should it be connected to?

maybe i did it wrong?

IIRC, the grounds are all soldered to the back of one of the pots. The bridge ground can be a small bit of bare wire that makes contact with the bottom of the Tele bridge plate. You can just loosen the screws and slide it under the bridge and retighten. The other end of that wire goes to the back of the pot...I think :o

The ground needs to be attached to ALL the pots to work.

ah! thats maybe where i was going wrong!

I'll try that and let you know if its a success!

thanks

Wingpen-

I modified this guitarelectronics.com diagram with the way I run grounds in red. It's a star grounding pattern, where they all meet up on one pot. There are several methods of grounding, but this is how I generally wire a guitar and it always works for me. As I said, the ground wires are red lines in this example.

hi thanks for that.

im a bit confused.

do all the grounds have to connect to the volume pot?

also what kind of wires should i be using?

any swift responses would be much apprecciated.

i have a gig tomorrow and i plan on using the guitar.
