Looks like a good buy! Yeah tell us how the sound and everything, I've heard the Event 20/20 biamps and those are awesome. But I'm sure you got a pretty good pair if not better.
I can't vouch for Tannoys as I've never owned them (but have never heard anything bad either). I only wanted to add that I've dealt with 8th Street Music (though not off of eBay) and have always had a good experience with them...even when something I bought didn't work. Good luck with your monitors and let us know how they work for you.
I carried a pair of Tannoy 6.5's with me on every job in did in the upper (and sometimes lower) midwest between 1990 and 1994. Powered monitors were a novel idea reserved for the 3rd and 4th price tier above what I could afford at the time.
I found the Tannoys to be MUCH better to spend 14 hours listening to than the house NS-10's. And if I had a quarter for every dopey house engineer who said 'believe me. If you can get it to sound good on THESE it'll sound good on ANYTHING' I'd probably have $10 by now!
Well, I won't rain on your parade. They may not be some big ol' Genelecs, but monitors are so essential. Any pair of decent ones is such a step up. Congrats.-Richie
Yeah, those are fine monitors.
I own a pair of the Tannoy Reveal's; the passive ones.
If I A/B them against my Event 20/20 BAS's, I can hear just ever so slight of an exaggerated bass on the Reveals.
For nearfield monitors, they're very good, and not at all fatiguing during those longer mixing sessions.
You'll enjoy them, and get years of service from them.
Well you’re making me jealous. I have a pair of Tannoy Proto-J’s and would love to step up. Very happy with what I have but always looking for improvement. Congrat’s! Tannoy makes good stuff. You’ll be happy. Mine take a beating and have survived accidents pumping kick drum through them at way beyond their ratings. That’s only one of the reasons I would love powered monitors. Would help save me from my self
