I'm looking for some material to read to learn more about recording everything from getting tones to mixing.

I'm looking for stuff that isn't watered down advice like just giving out compression ratios for certain instruments, i want to read about eqing sounds so they all have their own sonic space in the mix, so each intrument is sitting in it's own frequency range.

Best way to learn about recording.

But first listen and comment on a dozen-or-so tunes by others before posting your own stuff. That way you'll know the style and skill level of others who post there, which is critical for understanding their comments, IMO.
