OK so I just got my first set of 1200's, admittedly I know very little, I have played violin for 14 years, guitar for 10 and synths for 8 so my musical knowledge is fine though. Anyways, I was spinning in my room and I went to change the record on one of the tables and all of a sudden when I dropped the needle it stopped catching the groove and would just slide across the vinyl real quick. What is doing this? I need to know fast because not being able to spin is making me nuts!

you need to adjust your tonearm m8... what needle do you use? and have you gotten rid of the plastic mat? you should only play a slipmat, without the extra plastic one.

Somewhere the needle you have, will have some info on how much counterweight you need. I have Ortofon Nightclub, and i use 2.5 g. counterweight.

also: set the anti-skating to 0.

it also sounds like you need to adjust the feet. let the tonearm balance at 0 so it's floating in the air and then adjust the feet till it doesn't move back and forth anymore..

you might also wanna adjust the height og the tonearm to make it totally horizontal.

Or.............

You need to clean the STYLUS (read: needle)

Or, you might have damaged the needle. In that case you'll need to purchase a new STYLUS.

But hopefully it is just dirty.
