I have a problem to record the TD10 with BRUSHES in CUBASE SX.

I can trigger and play the brush snaresound (from TDW1 extension) with the TD10 without any problems but when I record and play it with Cubase the brush data seems not to be there. Just the louder hits on the snare are triggering the VDRUM but not the more silent notes which I have played with sweeping technique.

At the beginning I thought it was a filter problem in Cubase but I really can´t find anything being wrong.

Now I think, that this is rather a problem of the TD10.
Can anybody with a TD... please try if he can record/play the TD10 with brushes in Cubase.

THANKS FOR HELP - I have to record a swing band on sunday and need to solve this until then.

I assume you are sending MIDI to cubase (vs, recording the audio out from the TD10.

I have always had problems trying to trigger the brush sweep via MIDI (I use Cakewalk). However, when I record the audio out from the TD10 I do have a little better luck. I have to assume that the conversion of the triggers to a MIDI signal gets lost on the softer hits. So if you have enough tracks, etc. it may be better to track the audio from the TD10 rather than the MIDI (at least on the snare.

Candidly, you may be better off using an accoutic snare for a jazz/swing session (if your studio has that ability). While the ability to play brush strokes on the TD10 it a cool option, in reality an electric kit will never be able to capture the subtle nuance of brush playing (much like electronic cymbals will sound as good as quality accoustic cymbals)..

Lastly, and this may be asking the obvious - Do you have the brush option progammed on the particular TD10 "kit you are trying to track? I suspect you do, since you indicate you can play the brush sounds on the TD10.

Good luck in your session - I hope you can work it out!!
