Looking into a reverb type unit....

TC 300 sounds nice, i tried it over the weekend.

Of course, always looking for the BEST deal...

I see this Lexicon MPX200.
It is a bit more $ but has compression & reverbs on each channel, and more editing/programming capability.

Anyone have this Lexicon unit?
GOOD, BAD, UGLY??????

Especially is the compression good or will I still need to buy a RNC? big factor in deciding.

Doing the MD8track, home recording...Vocals & Acoustic.
Looking to purchase PreAmp, Compressor, and Reverb/Effx.

I have the Lexicon MX200. It is a great unit and is very flexible. The compression and gate functions only work for the reverbs (effects). You can't go wrong with this unit. Sounds very nice but tricky to setup. It will take a while to learn the ropes.
Good Luck!

acorec?

You said the compression only works for the reverbs?

So are you saying it's not possible to use only a compression setting by itself?
Could a compression + "0" setting reverb work, to get only a dry compression setting?

That is a good question. I will look at the manual and post my findings.

The Lex 200 is a good unit with nice array of 'Verb effects and for a unit in it's category and price range, it does a provide the user with more than adequate performance.
I had considered this unit some years back, but on the advice and arm twisting of Cuzzin' Brucie Blue Bear, I bought the Lex MPX500 and for my needs, it fits the bill.

I originally considered purchasing the 200 since A)-It was a MAJOR
step up from my 1st efx unit, Beh's DSP 1000Pro, and B)-I was impressed by the 200's capability to fine-tune each effects
algorithms by allowing for a higher incremental adjustment of both user AND preset effect parameters with as many as 4 program and compression parameters that are available for each program.

If you can't afford the Lex MPX500 or higher, than the 200 is more than ample enuff to provide smooth processing.

ok...but???

still a question on the Lex 200..(MISTERQCUE, I'm amazed you admitted you owned a Beh? .wasn't that a ULTRA-ULTRA PRO 1000 Proffesional Series unit?...heee,,heee)

QUESTION:
Would the Lex 200 compression work in place of a RNC?
QUESTION:
Is it a good compressor? How do you rate it?
Mindset: could I save a few $$ on the RNC for now.

shop talk: TC M300 or Lex MPX200
I have a DMP3 ordered still on it's way and was going to buy a RNC next, but then I got sidetracked and got a TC Electronic M300 & Presonic Pre-amp
(when I returned my Shure SM81 GC. It's all about money and 30day policys..can't keep it all..basically I'm getting in over my head, fhkng ordering internet sht and tying up $$ at GC...)

so this weekend,
I tried my first Pre-amp & the TC unit and I was like...WOW!! this was a BIG step up...from my SM57/3630 insert/Yamaha MD8 setup....
extreme improvement over upgrading the 57 to the 81 with the 3630insert/Yammie MD8. It wasn't the microphone needing upgrading first!
So it was my pre's and the TC effect adding this "crisp, space, air" whatever the hell, you want to call it....I'm still quite impressed.
I'll return the Presonic single unit, when my DMP3 shows up...

GEAR LUST:
but the TC M300 is soooo sweeet....but sufferring from gear lust.. the Lex 200 appears to offer a "true dual engine" compression & reverbs...the M300 is a dual engine, but only one effect at a time per engine.

Go with the sound, not features. Anyone listening to your music will only hear the sound of your equipment, not the features. So if the M300 works better for your ears and your music and excites you, that's the one to get. Forget about all that dual engine stuff, featuritis, etc., go with the sound that you like.

I'm not a fan of digital compression, I just like the sound of analog compression better. So my opinion would be to get the RNC.

My 2 cents anyway.

I've been using the M300 and the RNC for some time now, and it's a very usable combination. The M300 is also a fair A-D converter, and has balanced outs, unlike the Lexicon. It is also a lot more user friendly.-Richie
