I was helping a friend of mine pick up a beginner guitar. We looked at all the $300 crap guitars and had pretty much decided to get a Seagull.

We came across the Taylor Big Baby at GC for $270 and that guitar is incredible for the price. Solid Spruce Top, Ebony fretboard. It is loud and clear, great feel. It is 15/16 scale so a little easier for newbies. It doesnt have a lot of low end but the bass notes are well defined, just no boom. It sounds like a regular guitar after cutting all the bass and low mids.

I cant wait to borrow it for some recording. If your looking for a good beginner guitar or want a cheap second guitar the Big Baby rocks.

I played a Big baby Taylor down at the local shop...
I really liked it....
The only thing that I did not like was the screws in the fretboard...
I agree though....a lotta guitar for short money.
Peace,
Joe

Those are pretty nice. You should try out a Larrive Parlor. Very nice all solid wood guitar in the 350 range.

Yes,I've played the Big Baby and it's a good little guitar at a great price.I believe Larrivee has come out with a contender for it,I think it's called the D-1,but I've yet to see one.

I've got a Larivee D03, I'll have to check out the D1. Its cool having having a couple extra guitars for different tunings.
