Help. I am truly an amatuer and I need a mic for my work. I am using the Cubase LE and the Tascam US122 on a PC based home recording system. I need a condenser mic that will be primarily for vocals. Vocal range will cover the whole spectrum from a high soprano to a low bass and everything in btwn including persussion. What is the best mic that is compaitible with this system? Plse help , you guys are great !

I am now considering obtaining a US 122 unit. it seems like the best buy for the money. However, on the Musicians friend site, the reviews for this vary wildly. Can someone who has some experience with this tell me about them, specifically dealing with the packaged Cubase software and ease of usage of the unit. Thanks

The US-122 is a piece of piss to use. I don't know what it's bundled with and I've only used it with Cubase SX3, but it's really simple - as soon as you plug it in it comes up as an option in the device manager or whatever it's called, you just click that instead of your normal soundcard, and you're ready to go.

As for recording, you just plug the guitar/mic/whatever straight in and adjust the gain until the peak light stops flashing, hit record - and you're done.
