tascam us-428 drivers make me blue(screen)

I have relatively infrequent, (but frequent enough to be highly irritating) problems with my computer bluescreening and then counting to 100 before it restarts when i am using it for audio applications. i think it is the asio driver for my tascam us-428 because when i use the windows drivers i dont seem to have the problem. but latency and recording issues make this immpracticle. using two midi devices at once (a keyboard and drum pad) to trigger soft synths in reason will almost always make it happen. sometimes it happens when im doing multitrack recording and using the contrtols on the control surface. sometimes it will happen when none of the things are going on, but it is always audio related. there have been times when windows will tell me it is a device driver error. so im pretty sure it is the tascam. which is my only (functioning) sound card.

(i use windows xp, with a 2.2 gig processor and a gig of ram)
